Full Time: Australia 36 Ireland 80

In what was apparently one of the most one-sided games in the series' history, Ireland routed a disinterested and pallidly-performing Australian team in Melbourne today, and one doubts how much longer the series will continue. For those that don't know the sport, it's a "compromise rules" game played, with a round ball, between a selection of amateur players drawn from club and county Gaelic Football teams in Ireland and a selection drawn from Australia's AFL.

The 2nd and final game of this year's series is next Friday on the Gold Coast.

Well played Ireland, I come from an AFL supporting state and love the game but I must say myself and many others don't get all that enthused by this hybrid game.
