TEN ....."IN MY BED" [FRANK] (youtube)

Okay, I've only recently discovered this song, perhaps about a week ago, but I've been hooked. The chorus[?] is just soooo catchy ("oh, it's you again. Listen, this isn't a reunion...") that you can't help fall in love with this song. Unfortunately, I haven't spent enough time with this song for it to garner a higher position in my chart, but I'm positive that I'll be singing this song for ages!

Also, I love the way Winehouse wrote her songs. Every line, even those lines that do not appear to make sense t first, adds to the mysterious, nonchalant and detached vibe. Some recurring motifs appear ("a nightingale no longer singing", "the sun comes up...").

How vibrant does she look in the music video?

#15. "KNOW YOU NOW" [FRANK] (youtube)

This song is so amazing. It's a shame it didn't make the top ten, but there's so many more amazing songs. If I could, I'd make this song (and the four that come after this) number 15, but that would take away from this countdown. Anyways, I love the first line so much ("You're just a little boy") that, even if I don't want to listen to music, it makes me want to hear the song (if that makes sense).

Image
NINE....."TAKE THE BOX" [FRANK] (youtube)

Just listen to the song. It takes you into her world of pain and malfunctioning relationships.

#14. "HELP YOURSELF" [FRANK] (youtube)
I don't think anyone can listen to this song without thinking of Amy's problems. This song, and another song I discovered today (that I shall mention towards the end), just make me sad. I literally can't even know what to say.

Image
EIGHT....."I HEARD LOVE IS BLIND" [FRANK] (youtube)
Number eight is Amy's stream-of-consciousness track on infidelity. It's a very humorous song, and even though some of the lyrics are a bit questionable, I still love singing this song. The way Amy weaves a story is incredible.

Image
SEVEN....."HE CAN ONLY HOLD HER" [BACK TO BLACK] (youtube)
I love this song!!! Amy showcases her powerful and unique voice in this song ("searching kisses/ the man's missus"). She also uses clever wording and metaphors ("he tries to pacify her/but what's inside her never dies" is another way of going at the overused cliched "the fire never dies" theme) all throughout the song. What a clever girl.

I love all the tracks so far. Amazing! Actually, I love all her songs, except some on the Deluxe CD of B2B.

Can we expect some from Lioness too?

And yeah, great presentation. Beautiful. I would have placed In My Bed and Take The Box higher though.

Can't wait for others.

I was going to kill this countdown swiftly and quietly, until yesterday, when I saw that you two responded. It's very, very tedious to make those banners!

@Skapunk, nope! I did my list way before Lioness: Hidden Treasures came out. However, I promise that I'll redo my list one sweet day, where it will reflect my favorites from Frank, Back To Black, Lioness... and all those unreleased jams I didn't even know existed ("Procrastination", "When My Eyes Close", "Long Day", and so on). *sigh* so many amazing songs! So, technically, this chart is obsolete already...and its not even finished!

#13. "REHAB" [BACK TO BLACK] (youtube)

Who can forget the irresistible hook from "Rehab" ( "I said, 'no, no, no...'")? Gosh, I remember seeing the music video on the television, Amy's powerful voice and unusual sound compelling me to pay attention. And I did (for the duration of the music video, at least). That hook is just so catchy!

However, when I listen to the song now, I don't sing along with the chorus as often as I once did, and I find myself singing the verses ("I'd rather be/at home with Ray"). There's a certain attitude that the song gives that just attracts me to it, and coincidentally, it's that same attitude that Amy carried which is why the world was so attracted to her.

Image
SIX....."ADDICTED" [BACK TO BLACK] (youtube)

Again, more independent-woman jams! I sometimes go on YouTube, and look for Amy interviews. I saw her mention that the general mood of "Frank" was independence ("oh, I don't need you" is what I believe she described it as, whilst doing a little head bop) and the belittlement of men who seem to behave like ladyboys (okay, okay, she didn't say that!).

In contrast, most of "Back To Black" is predominately about attachment (or lack of) in a relationship, and the longing of a partner ("Wake Up Alone", "Back To Black", "Tears Dry On Their Own", etc...). Some of the brash attitude that permeates "Frank" shows up occasionally on "Back To Black", and helps liven up the forlorn atmosphere with tracks like "Rehab" and "Addicted".

And, like in "Rehab", I'm just attracted to the attitude. ("Tell your boyfriend/next time he's around...")

Image
FIVE....."STRONGER THAN ME" [FRANK] (youtube)

Again, more attitude! I can't help but feel sorry for the guy this song is dedicated to! As a guy, I feel almost embarrassed to hear someone say these things in my ear...but then I come back down to Earth, and realize that Amy isn't calling me a ladyboy. She's calling you a ladyboy!

"Stronger Than Me" and "Rehab" are surely two of my most favorite Amy songs!
"You know I'm No Good" is my top fave. You'd better have it in your list :P

Great bunch!

I am not that crazy about Rehab like I was before. Sometimes I even skip it! :o
But, its a classic nonetheless.

Addicted is really good. I love the occasional flute-ish sounds in it.

Stronger Than Me is one of my faves! I love the video, the song structure. It has so much swag. Her vocals are great on this. Her singing style is great on this one.

And please, don't abandon this chart! I love it. And those banners are beautiful!
