Well, the success it's been getting recently is very well-deserved! 8-) It's such an amazing song and I hope there would be follow-ups :D
On a Wednesday, at a cafe, I watched it begin again.

I think the chorus is what weakens this track for me. It was a nice song back when it was first released, but it's become quite annoying now.

They need to bring UK reissue of this forward as a cover is in iTunes top 75 - and a bunch of others are below it.

I've just heard this song for the very first time this morning. It's a corker!

Although, I'm surprised that it's in Pure Pop. I would've put it in the *Alternative* genre.

You do realize that LMFAO were recently #1, right?

Anyway, I love this song. It's fantastic. The chorus is anthemic and I just adore the way the song ends.

I agree. I understand the hate songs like "Sexy And I Know It" get, but this? What is so wrong with an anthemic rock song with one of the catchiest choruses to hit radio in years being a smash?

Absolutely nothing. It's about time that the #1 spot in the US got some diversification. I love Pop music and all, but all genres deserve attention and quite frankly, some recent 'Pop music' shouldn't even be deemed music at all.

I've only just found out what this is. It's so familiar to me - I must have heard it somewhere before (not Glee... I don't watch that rubbish  )...

Fake versions already knocking about UK iTunes, it's gonna be pretty big here too... agree with Blondini, they should bring forward the release date.

Why move it after so long??

Katy Perry could cover this with the same musical backing and no-one would bat an eyelid. I put it in Pop because Glee had covered it and it is a huge anthemic pop song. Yes, they're an alternative band but as i said - Billboard ranks them as Adult Pop as well.

Everything is Rock/Alternative these days it seems. Plenty of years ago a majority would surely consider this a pop anthem!

It's so annoying. It means the Pop forum becomes anodyne and bland. I had no problem with Fun's album being here. And no problem with this being here - 5 months back when i first posted it!

It feels like any music that does not comply with the electronic dance trend is categorized as rock or alternative when in fact they are pure pop songs. What do people think about Gotye/Foster The People etc? The music which people categorized as pop music in past decades are certainly perceived by today's youth as rock or alternative too. On one level understandable, on another tiresome.

I think as a whole, "pop" has such a negative stigma to it nowadays

It shouldn't. And we shouldn't pander to that.

Keane's new single is as pop as an old A-ha song yet i bet you there'd be howls of outrage if i posted it in Pop. And Marina and The Diamonds is only kept in there because she's ass-kissing popular producers.

In fact, this song recalls the powerpop of Adam and The Ants and Duran Duran who these days would also be booted from the Pop forum if they were newcomers.

I think the problem is that people think "pop" and think horrible teen music with lots of autotune and Idol/X Factor artists who sing formula ballads others wrote for them. People are afraid to admit to liking anything "pop" because of the stigma that pop means Justin Bieber and Ke$ha.

I honestly don't get why this is so popular at all, for me the song is fairly boring until Janelle Monae appears for a split second or two then the song picks up and is better for it

Still it will be a better #1 than most tracks in the UK probably this year as we do get some real rubbish #1's every year

Blah same old debate.

Anyway after listening to this ages ago and then forgetting about it, now the UK success is impending (Radio 1 have added it today) I do like it but find it a bit boring in parts. Very anthemic chorus.

You didn't like Someone Like You? Or Set Fire To The Rain?

But anyways...this song has gotten a little annoying BUT it's very catchy.

I liked those two songs a year ago... was already long over them by the time US radio bothered to start playing them. They should be up to single #6 or so off 21 at this point but they're still on Set Fire.
