It's no secret I became a huge fan of her in 2011. She has since become one of my all time favourites. As a person, she is so sweet and very very very nice! I hate when people hate so much on her but we all have different opinions. She is just too humble and I guess it stops people from seeing her talent, also maybe cause she's blonde and does mainstream pop LOL. She has created many of the iconic and defining things in her career such as the BOMT and Toxic video ideas, and yet people don't give her enough credit. She may nit be the most creative or able but she definitely has talent. Life has just been harder for her... Anyway, she is maker of my all time favourite album to date, In The Zone. I just felt so excited all throughout the year and discovering her music! This is why she is above Taylor. Also her newest album (though far from her best) was a hit in my chart with over 3 million sold and 3 top 3 singles! (Two #1's). Anyways, this lovely human being, who is an example of surviving, lands at number one, with one heck of a year!

Ellie Goulding is not only the best new artist but overall the artiist of my 2011. I discovered her around May and never turned back. Her debut Lights, possibly my favourite debut album, is just so fresh, so epic, so refreshing! I love it, so new sounding. She has quickly become one of my all time favourites, I see so much potential. Her and Britney are always battling for my #2 artist. It's hard to decide. Anyway, I see so much potential in this young, beautiful woman. I cannot wait for more! Lights was one of my top albums of 2011 (third most successful on my chart) with over 6 million sold! It has just recently fallen out with over 7 million sold. The song Lights was also one of the biggest of the year! As of now she is only behind Taylor Swift on my Last Fm with over 2,000 plays (Taylor has 4,000) so for her to reach5t that with one album is incredible! So with all this hype and addiction, ladies and gentlemen here is my artist of the year of 2011... the year of my musical expansion.
THANK YOU for all who followed, this was very fun. So sorry it lasted 4 months haha! Looking forward to going this again next year!
8-)

it's a bit funny to imagine someone just getting into Britney for the first time in 2011, but I guess you were only...4...when ...BOMT came out! better late than never, of course ;) I guess it's just like me truly discovering Mariah's discography for the first time in 2002, 12 years after her debut. any rate, I'm definitely glad to see that you've fallen in love with Britney - she really is one of (if not THE) defining popstar of the past 10-15 years. she's certainly had her ups and downs (personally and professionally), but she really seems to have it together again now and hopefully we can look forward to hearing more from her in the not-too-distant future! it's also been really great to watch her renewed success on the Hot 100 over the past few years, thanks to the digital era and US radio embracing her more than ever before.

I raved about Ellie when she topped your "Best New Artist" list, but I still love how much we both love her album. <3

We all know that I can write epistles upon epistles about the incredibly talented, beautiful, funny, kind, and enduring individual that is Ms. Britney Jean Spears. I could also write entire books on her discography and why it is unparalleled by her "peers". I could also include a chapter or two about the enormous influence that Britney has had on my personal life, how she helped me through some of the darkest periods of my adolescent years and how I still turn to her music to comfort me. But I won't.

I'm sure I've insulted Ellie once or twice in the past, mainly to poke fun at you for liking her as much as you do, but I really do enjoy her music. "The Writer", "This Love (Will Be Your Downfall)", "I'll Hold My Breath", "Under The Sheets", "Starry-Eyed", and "Lights" are all great songs. Of course, I think it's "criminal" (Britney pun completely intended) to rank her above the one, the only, the Pop Princess herself, Britney Spears, I respect your love for the awkward girl with the strange voice as she makes for a fantastic #0.

I am guilty of judging her for what I saw, but unlike many, I gace her a chance since I knew how much I loved most of her songs just never admitted it and boom she exploded all over my soul.. she is such a nice, amazing person! I hope her next album will be (better) more successful as she deserves it but I don't care if she never releases anything elses, as long as she is genuinely happy!
