stans should get payed by the record companies because we keep them artists alive even when their last album came out in 1802.

Yet your list looks like this:

Griego wrote:1. Madonna
2. Lady Gaga
3. Katy Perry
4. Christina Aguilera
5. Mariah Carey
6. Britney Spears
7. Pink
8. Adele
9. Alanis Morissette
10. Celine Dion
When I next host this in 2014, I'll be sure to put in a "no stans allowed" clause - obviously, that will mean nobody votes, but long as you're happy! 8-)

Agreed. When our fave artists go fishing and to Starbucks instead of promoting, we still send her album and lead single to #1. 8-)

The fact Adele made top 3 tells me people need to listen to more females! I hope people don't vote on hype and vote on how great an artists discography is this time! OK it's true I did vote for a few females who only have a few albums but they are so much better than Adele! Also they need my votes anyway. ;)

It's a shame the top end of the chart will forever be filled by the same girls, it's so boring. :-?

But the same is the case for the male countdown as well - it'll be the same 5 or 6 male artists that dominate the top half of the top 10, on this site.

Such is the nature of a music forum.

It doesn't matter anyway, I'm not here for the top end of the chart. ;) I just don't get how people can go crazy over the same few females over and over! :P

Last year, it was so fun to compile this, I can't wait to do it again this year - I polled the votes after every set of 10 voters, and every single time - WITHOUT FAIL - the #1 would change, until I got to around 80 voters, and then it was literally between Beyonce and Mariah.

It was the last 25 or so voters that cemented the final outcome and turned it into a two horse race - before that, it could've been one of 5 or 6 females [albeit all what you would expect from UKMIX]!

I hope this year to break the 100 voters barrier again! 8-)

I fully expect Mariah to win next year but it would be perfect if Whitney was the victor.

I think Mariah, Madonna, Beyonce, Rihanna etc should all be excluded because they'll ALWAYS be in the top 10, like even in 20 years!!  And no I'm not giving them any credit, it's just the fans...

but the thing is that some have truely changed the music scene for female artists.. and that just shows in such surveys.

I hope to see all of the big 5 in the top 10 this time: MC, CD, M, JJ and WH. ONLY if all of them make the top 10, i'd be happy and it would be a truer representation of the impact they had. But knowing UKMIX, Rhi and Bee will squeeze into the top 5.. But i wouldn't be too certain seeing Adele in the top 10 anymore. She had her 15 minutes fame and can leave now, like Norah Jones did.

I think the most interesting thing will be to see whether Adele has maintained her position, or just how far she'll fall!

I can't wait to start this!!!!! #malescouldnever

I think Adele will leave the top 10 and make space for Katy.

I think the biggest stanbases on UKMIX still are the Madonna, Mariah, Britney, Christina, Beyoncé, Rihanna and Katy fans. It's these 7 that will determine whether Celine, janet, Adele and Whitney will make it to the top 10. My personal and very biased and probably inaccurate perception is that most adele fans only love her for the success and fame/hype. and that it will lie on the 7 big stan groups on ukmix to determine her status this time.

To recap on Alicia...

In fact - and I'm not 100% sure of this, I'd have to check - I'd say she's the best-selling female artist to have debuted during the last 12 years, in terms of albums shifted worldwide. Alicia is respected for being an instrumentalist, a vocalist, a lyricist and a great live performer. She was most recently seen giving an impassioned live performance at Whitney Houston's funeral.

Surprisingly - for somebody ranked so highly - Alicia was nobody's #1 ranked act! And as such, she is the highest ranked act in this countdown, to not be placed at #1 by at least one person! The highest she ranked was #2 in 6 different lists [by the following voters: abi, blover, lambforever, Wardo, shanicefan & mimifan09] & this year's #6 ranking represents an 11 place leap from #17, the ranking she achieved last time. She was included in 25 top 10's overall - impressive, right? Well even more impressive, is her average points score - she was voted inside of 67 different lists, the same as P!nk who ranked one place lower than her - 34.9!
Alicia Augello Cook (born January 25, 1981), better known by her stage name Alicia Keys, is an American recording artist, musician and actress. She was raised by a single mother in the Hell’s Kitchen area of Manhattan in New York City, New York, United States. At age seven, Keys began to play classical music on the piano. She attended Professional Performing Arts School and graduated at 16 as valedictorian. She later attended Columbia University before dropping out to pursue her music career. Keys released her debut album with J Records, having had previous record deals first with Columbia and then Arista Records. Throughout her career, Keys has won numerous awards and has sold over 30 million albums worldwide. Billboard magazine named her the top R&B artist of the 2000–2009 decade, establishing herself as one of the best-selling artists of her time. In 2010, VH1 included Keys on its list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. Keys released her first studio album, Songs In A Minor, in June 2001. It debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and sold 236,000 copies in its first week. The album sold over 6.2 million copies in the United States, where it was certified six times Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). It went on to sell over 12 million copies worldwide, establishing Keys’ popularity both inside and outside the United States, where she became the best-selling new artist and best-selling R&B artist of 2001. The album’s lead single, Fallin’, spent six weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

Alicia is close-linked to Mariah and Beyoncé that is why she made it so high. She's like the generally loved fun to be around with cousin of the Mariah/Beyoncé fans.
