No, I replied and asked. And they replied saying that they wanted to give Mariah a chance, as Madonna had already won two of the countdowns

To which I replied with "...well bugger me" 8-)

i think the youngeans are all above the classics: Madonna, Celine, Whitney, JJ, MC, Aretha a.s.o.

I wouldn't be surprised if Nicki Minaj wins this and Mariah comes in at #84.
I'm saying that there are lots of nice surprises along the way 8-)

Anything more would be me ruining the countdown. Tomorrow, you'll get a batch of those acts that missed the top 250, 2 from the top 200, and 2 from the top 100. :)
Bring it on, Wayne.

Bring. It. On.

I highly doubt that. I say Mariah will come in at #9 this year, topped by Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Christina Aguilera, Britney and one more.
Eh eh don't act like you fall from the cloud.....as I said take a look at the voting list...and you'll see Mariah lambs dominate the list: once again, good for her 8-) :P
i think most people who voted Mariah also voted the other divas whereas I don't believe any of the Madonna fans would actually vote for Mariah..(or am I wrong?)
Yes, you're wrong)) my vote was
[47 POINTS] - Mariah Carey
[46 POINTS] - Madonna

OT:
Btw, back in the day when i was an active user of big Russian Madonna forum, several guys and I (all of us are fans of both Mariah and Madonna) held sorta program to familiarize Madonna fans who were initially 'against Mariah' with her art. And, what was really surprising, we got a new bunch of Mariah fans, and one guy who was devoted Madonna fan even said 'I can't imagina who i lived without Mariah before'.

So far, I've lost these acts

[49 POINTS] - Siouxsie Sioux (#213) - (mine #2)
[39 POINTS] - Patti Smith (#236) - (#12)
[25 POINTS] - Taylor Dayne (#92) - (#26)
[17 POINTS] - Kim Wilde (#212) - (#34)
[08 POINTS] - Debbie Gibson (#238) (#43)

In some ways, Siouxsie has charted because of me. But I think that Patty Smith at #236 is also a criminal for such an artist, guys...

200 ¬ THE POINTER SISTERS ¬ 110 POINTS

I want to love you, feel you, wrap myself around you
I want to squeeze you, please you, I just can't get enough
And if you move real slow, I'll let it go

The Pointer Sisters - an all girl group version of Donna Summer - formed in 1969. In the mid 70's, the group consisted of four members, before shrinking back down to three members when Bonnie left. They then went on to their biggest commercial successes, with hit singles including Fire, Slow Hand, Automatic, Jump [For My Love], I'm So Excited & Neutron Dance. In the process, they charted 7 top 40 albums, and sold over 30m records worldwide, to become arguably the biggest all girl group of the 1980's. They fall at the first hurdle, scraping JUST a top 200 place.

199 ¬ FIONA APPLE ¬ 111 POINTS

I was staring at the sky, just looking for a star
To pray on, or wish on, or something like that
I was having a sweet fix of a daydream of a boy
Whose reality I knew, was a hopeless to be had

Fiona Apple - aged 34 - made her music debut in 1996, at the age of 19, with the enormously successful Tidal album. From this album, came the Grammy award winning Criminal, a critically acclaimed single. Apple managed to beat out tough competition from Meredith Brooks and Patti Smith - the latter of which charted just outside of the main countdown. Follow up albums to Tidal have failed to wow the international charts to the same extent but have nonetheless captivated her loyal followers. So much so that with her last record in 2005, was only released because of a fan lead campaign.

You'll get your two entrants from the main countdown a bit later on this afternoon 8-)

I didn't vote in this but I can still comment right?

The Pointer Sisters at #200 is both positive and negative. Negative because they deserve a place in the Top 100 at the very minimum (they are legends no doubt about it), positive because after all those years they are still remembered and celebrated.

I appreciate Fiona but she never rocked my world tbh

Pointer Sisters are classic - maybe a bit low there though I didn't vote for them.

Fiona Apple - I only know her top 40 hit - "Fast As You Can". It's a decent song.

Woo for the Pointer Sisters :D They pretty much defined the energetic side of 80's pop music, and did lots of songs that get you moving. :D

Fiona Apple's had some good stuff too... one of the best 90's singer-songwriters, especially on songs like "Criminal".

Did Fiona Apple have a song called 'As Fast As You Can'?

The Pointer Sisters - 'I'm So Excited' is good but 'Jump' is one of the most annoying songs ever!

I actually lost a few already :( Two quite big guns too!

[47 POINTS] - Lucie Silvas
[37 POINTS] - Paloma Faith
[07 POINTS] - Imogen Heap

Fortunately the only solo Spice I voted for hasn't appeared yet ;)

Paloma ia fairly new so not too surprised, but I'm gutted at Lucie heading out so early. An absolutely beautiful girl, such a nice girl, with a gorgeous voice and an incredible songwriting ability. In my top 10 artists.

World renowned vocalist, with a Mariah Carey-esque vocal technique. Jessica broke into music in the early 90's, and was almost immediately recognised for her vocal power, and ability to hold ridiculously long notes [see her live performance of Take My Breath Away on Regis & Kelly]. Her career it its stride in the late 90's, when she scored multiplatinum hit albums and top 10 singles across the globe. Her defining song is I Wanna Love You Forever - a song that required her to sing at the maximum ability her voice allowed. Which then brought us classic moments like this, but also meant that her voice would never be the same again. For a period of a few months, Simpson was arguably the most gifted singer on the planet. Nowadays, she's focusing less on the music, and is instead counting the money built up through her various endorsements and deals, which has reportedly net her $100m. Jess falls 22 places this year.

Entrant #99 coming soon! 8-)

Sorry Wayne, but I just had to laugh at this. She's nowhere near Mariah's vocal technique. I mean, take a look at this video

Thank God she's irrelevant now.
