Just 2 other climbers in the top 50: Norah Jones' "Little Broken Hearts" up a place at #31 and the week's biggest leap Kenny Chesney's "Welcome To The Fishbowl" moving #61-#42.

Linkin Park's "Living Things" and Maroon 5's "Overexposed" enter the BB200 at #1 & #2 and debut here at #50 & #51 seperated by only 1,100 sales. The "Rock Of Ages" soundtrack is the 3rd new album on this week's list at #99.

Chris Brown's "Fortune" will be #1 on next week's BB200 with sales estimated at 125,000-135,000 which may not be enough to debut on this list. Another possible new album on next week's list is the Maybach Music Group compilation "Self-Made Vol.2".

Gotye seems to be making the top 10 next week :o .
And this although his album only peaked at No. 7 - great :D .

Not to forget his country mate Luke Bryan, who has been the highest at No. 9 on Billboard 200 and still has the 7th best-selling album of the year 8-) .

One Direction will be overtaking Lionel Richie next week propably...

Either way it's awful.

Why should Bieber oust him out?
I can see both having a place in the top 10 and rather think Drake and Nicki Minaj will fall out... Adele's 19 also isn't so high anymore so I can't see it staying in the top 10 for long either.

It's obvious from your post starting with 'Gotye seems to be making the top 10 next week.' that '19' will leave the top 10 next week and Gotye will take its place, so it's unnecessary surmising 'Adele's 19 also isn't so high anymore so I can't see it staying in the top 10 for long either' :D

As for the question. Yes, I was wrong, they both will supplant bot Adele and Drake from the top 10.

THE DECADE 2010-2019 SO FAR... (WEEK 130)

This week Pink's "Greatest Hits…So Far!" became the 47th album to sell over a million copies since the beginning of 2010. Next week Florence + The Machine's "Lungs" will become the 48th. That album is of course already a million seller, but 30,456 of its 1,030,161 total were sold in 2009. The most likely 49th million seller of the decade so far looks to be One Direction's "Up All Night" in 3-4 weeks time, and will be 2012's first contribution to the list. The albums shown in red on this list were released before 2010.

By Chris Kornelis

In the two decades since Nielsen Soundscan started to keep track of U.S. album sales in 1991, the company has seen the industry fold in half, digital sales catch up to physical, and vinyl mount a resurgence. But until last week, they'd never seen old records outsell new ones.

The first six months of the year saw sales of 76.6 million catalog records -- industry-speak for albums released more than 18 months ago -- compared to 73.9 million current albums.

That's a combination of two things: not having the big blockbuster new releases in the first half, and having very, very strong catalog, says Nielsen analyst David Bakula, who points out that these numbers resulted even though Adele's 21 -- still considered current -- has sold a million more copies in 2012 than it had at this point in 2011.

The top-selling catalog records of the year so far include Guns N' Roses' Greatest Hits and four records by Whitney Houston, whose canon got a boost after her death in February. Bakula says the biggest reason catalog has been so strong is that record labels and retailers continue to drop the price of older albums, often to as low as $5.99 or $7.99. Those prices, sometimes half of what they once were, are bringing in new customers. "I really, truly do believe that there probably is a consumer that is buying music here that wasn't buying music in the past," he says.

Just the one?

In all seriousness though it's never a good sign when catalogue albums are outselling current.
Counting down the days until 21 outsells Morning Glory in the UK.

The Zac Brown Band's "Uncaged" debuts at #1 on the BB200 this week selling enough to enter this list at #52. They become the 7th act to have more than one album in the YTD Top 100 - their 2010 album "You Get What You Give" is #72 this week. The others are: Adele (#s 1& 12), Whitney Houston (#s 4 & 89), Black Keys (#s 15 & 77), Skrillex (#s 38 & 73), Maroon 5 (#s 31 & 57) & Florence + The Machine (#s 43 & 98).

"You Get What You Give" is one of eight albums on the list that also appeared in the year-end top 100 albums of both 2010 and 2011, the others… Taylor Swift's "Speak Now", Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream", Jason Aldean's "My Kinda Party", Mumford & Sons' "Sigh No More", Black Keys' "Brothers" & Bruno Mars' "Doo-Wops & Hooligans". Adele's "19" was in the YE top 100 of 2009 & 2011. "The Bodyguard" was in the YE top 100 of 1992, 1993 & 1994. The last albums to appear in 4 consecutive year-end top 100's were Carrie Underwood's "Some Hearts" and Nickelback's "All The Right Reasons", both on the 2005/6/7/8 lists.

The Maybach Music Group's "Self Made Vol.2" is the 2nd new entry on this week's list at #91and the "Project X" soundtrack returns to the top 100 at #100 - it last appeared back in week 18.

For the 6th time in as many weeks a new album will debut at #1 on the BB200 - next week it will be Nas with "Life Is Good". It's not forecast to sell enough to make next week's YTD top 100 but should get there in 2 weeks time. There will be a couple of new entries on next weeks list though: Frank Ocean's "Channel Orange" (#109 this week) and the Lumineers "The Lumineers" (#102).

Key: Albums in blue are 2012 releases, albums in green are catalog. * - indicates estimated sales.

I assume you mean the bestselling album released in 2012, rather than the bestselling album of 2012?

If so then yes it's a disgrace. :-?

I assume you mean the bestselling album released in 2012, rather than the bestselling album of 2012?

If so then yes it's a disgrace. :-?
Yes, of course, I mean the bestselling album released in 2012.

Taylor's expected release date is mid-late October.
