Because of the GEMA... They only allow music to be played (also on radio etc.) if it's getting paid for using them...

Their song was generic & weak and the performance was a bit messy and boring. There were many strong entries in 2008 final, so unfortunately "Disappear" got lost.
As far as i remember, they took part in the national final among other popular singers (there was no internal selection).

Max in 2004 did well (Top 10)

Anyway, i believe that the German broadcaster has taken Eurovision seriously so hopefully they will do their best for a decent result in Eurovision.

I think Roman is to 'normal' and his Song is nearly to 'boring'. Don't get me wrong, the song is not bad, but i just think the song isn't good enough for a show like ESC.

When you mention the ESC, the last thing you think of is originality. Most songs are generic, cheesy and weak, not to mention some stupid ones.

IMO, "Disappear" was everything but generic and it got a lot of great reviews on the Internet and magazines, even here people who don't even know them keep telling me that the song is really good. As for their performance, I agree it was messy vocally but oh well.

We had this over a long time but after so many disappointments in the mid-2000s, Stefan Raab wanted to save the disaster by finding the artist to represent Germany at the ESC himself...

Roman is cutie, young and talented! His song is good but not sure if it can stand out in the final among other entries. I'm prepared for a bad result but i really wish him the best of luck!

In general, there is no originality in the music industry nowadays, not only Eurovision.

People should bear in mind that Eurovision is not a radio competition! It is a TV show, so live performances play a major role in the final outcome. Unfortunately, the live performance of No Angels didn't help the song at all. On the contrary, "Disappear" sounded boring in the live performance and got lost among other entries which were staged in a better way. The song sounds better on radio than TV.

Stefan Raab wanted to save the disaster by finding the artist to represent Germany at the ESC himself...

Apart from that, i admit that Stefan Raab/German broadcaster is doing a great job in selecting the Eurovision entries of recent years. Lena's 2010 songs (Bee, Love Me and of course Satellite), plus Roman's "Standing Still" are decent modern songs.

They should have sent that woman from Frida Gold that sat in the jury (don't remember her name) instead. She can't really sing either but at least her songs are good.
Or what about Tim Bendzko? Xavier Naidoo? My god even Daniela Katzenberger would have been a better choice.

And for next year I want them to pay some professional songwriters. You can send the best singer in the world there but if your song is crappy you still have no chance.

What I really dislike about Stefan Raab's involvement or basically since this casting show was introduced 2 years ago, is how they try to present quality songs, working with serious producers which always means: no variety musically and also BORING songs!

I also want the old pre-selection back where 10 different acts with different sounding songs performed.

at least there was a rush and excitement, the current process is a joke, I mean c'mon, last year Lenas songs compete against each other , this years each had 3 songs like Lenas first year, what the hell is that?!
