AUSTIN, Texas — Britney Spears has been on the job just two days and she’s already proving to be a popular judge on “The X Factor.”
The pop queen is also growing into her role as critic on the Fox singing contest show.
“The X Factor” staged its first auditions for the upcoming season Thursday and Friday in Austin, Texas, and judging by the boisterous cheers and the “I love you Britney!” calls from the crowd, the Grammy-winning singer is already a hit in her new role.
She’s also showing she’s not afraid to vote against contestants or disagree occasionally with show creator Simon Cowell and fellow judges Demi Lovato and L.A. Reid.
“I feel like your song was just in the wrong key,” Spears told a contestant Friday, adding that choosing a different song would have been “more interesting.”
She told another contestant, “Your voice is really sweet, but I feel like you need a little more training.”
Spears has yet to develop the chattiness that Lovato, also a new judge, had with the often nervous contestants. While Spears was direct but brief with her opinions, Lovato demonstrated a more casual rapport with the singers, even when it was clear they weren’t going to be cut.
Spears, 30, was brought in to help boost ratings for “The X Factor” after its debut season fell short of Cowell’s predictions. The former child performer became an international star with her 1999 debut album, “... Baby One More Time.” Other hits have come (”Oops!... I Did It Again,” ‘’Toxic”) but her personal life has been difficult, with rehab spells and time in a psychiatric ward.
For her judging debut, Spears wore a bright neon pink dress and she sat next to Cowell during Friday’s auditions. The two routinely chatted during the breaks between singers.
The trouble is that we won't. Unless there is a really big dramatic reason for her walking out, in which case they will show it, they will cover it up by cutting out those auditions unless they are incredible - in which case they will just edit in clips of Britney responding to other acts and pretend she was there.Mike_54 wrote:I stan for Britney, but I must say that I think that both Brit's fans and haters are acting ridicolous!!
I mean fans who are acting like she is some God of windsom because she just said a couple of senteces that actually make sense..
And haters who are like she is biggest bitch to grace a screen, just because of 2 or 3 shaky reports...
I mean we CAN'T know what's she is like as a judge before we see on WHAT and WHO she was judging even If we have ALL audios of her talking... It's simple as that!!
Then why don't you just wait and see the show instead of judging her for something you haven't seen yet.king_oxymoron wrote:Also I like Britney, but a report saying she's doing well as some fans shouted they loved her from the crowd is utter rubbish... her fans would shout they loved her if she stormed the stage and took a dump...
I'm only judging on what serious media outlets such as The Associated Press are reporting... but if you want to judge on what TMZ is reporting then let the lord use you.king_oxymoron wrote:But you can decide she's doing an amazing job on it despite the same lack of knowledge? Cool.
It's an online music forum.. I could care less if people is taking me seriously or not I'm just sharing my online thoughts on pop culturePlym wrote:No one is taking you seriously anymore with posts like thispcdm3 wrote:then let the lord use you.
She's a joke... all these delusional stuff about Britney is so funny! Hahahaha... but we'll wait and see until Brit's on screen!Plym wrote:No one is taking you seriously anymore with posts like thispcdm3 wrote:then let the lord use you.
Well done then.pcdm3 wrote:I'd rather be a joke than a snoozefest.. #JustSayin'jpguy wrote:She's a joke...Plym wrote:No one is taking you seriously anymore with posts like thispcdm3 wrote:then let the lord use you.
LOL I know right But I didn't want to be that mean towards him.. but if he keeps pushing my buttons I might spill some true tea about how the term "joke" fits WAAAAY better on himjamesssxD wrote:The irony of jpguy calling someone else a joke. Laaaaaawd.
I know, since that's kind of obvious.. But why only Britney? We've got another new judge..king_oxymoron wrote:Logically of course.. but this is a forum, what do you expect people to do if not speculate?
Because Britney is the relevant one and also they do it mostly because I annoy the hell out of 'em my pleasurepollei wrote:I know, since that's kind of obvious.. But why only Britney? Well, okay. You've got your point but I think Britney hasn't done anything bad either But to be honest, if Demi does something bad.. She'll always be overshadowed by Britney No one gets bigger than herking_oxymoron wrote:Pollei, I have mentioned Demi! I have heard only good reviews and she hasn't done anything that we can speculate badly upon, that's the only reason people haven't!
Let's end it here. I get your point. Let's just agree to disagree.king_oxymoron wrote:Which is exactly why there is less scrutiny! I don't think you can say Britney hasn't done anything though - we have a photo of her being absent for auditionees, you're right it might not have been 'bad' but Demi hasn't done anything like that to scrutinise.. Britney has.
