Associated Press: Britney a hit as 'X Factor' judge

By Associated Press,

AUSTIN, Texas — Britney Spears has been on the job just two days and she’s already proving to be a popular judge on “The X Factor.”

The pop queen is also growing into her role as critic on the Fox singing contest show.

“The X Factor” staged its first auditions for the upcoming season Thursday and Friday in Austin, Texas, and judging by the boisterous cheers and the “I love you Britney!” calls from the crowd, the Grammy-winning singer is already a hit in her new role.

She’s also showing she’s not afraid to vote against contestants or disagree occasionally with show creator Simon Cowell and fellow judges Demi Lovato and L.A. Reid.

“I feel like your song was just in the wrong key,” Spears told a contestant Friday, adding that choosing a different song would have been “more interesting.”

She told another contestant, “Your voice is really sweet, but I feel like you need a little more training.”

Spears has yet to develop the chattiness that Lovato, also a new judge, had with the often nervous contestants. While Spears was direct but brief with her opinions, Lovato demonstrated a more casual rapport with the singers, even when it was clear they weren’t going to be cut.

Spears, 30, was brought in to help boost ratings for “The X Factor” after its debut season fell short of Cowell’s predictions. The former child performer became an international star with her 1999 debut album, “... Baby One More Time.” Other hits have come (”Oops!... I Did It Again,” ‘’Toxic”) but her personal life has been difficult, with rehab spells and time in a psychiatric ward.

For her judging debut, Spears wore a bright neon pink dress and she sat next to Cowell during Friday’s auditions. The two routinely chatted during the breaks between singers.

I mean fans who are acting like she is some God of windsom because she just said a couple of senteces that actually make sense..
And haters who are like she is biggest bitch to grace a screen, just because of 2 or 3 shaky reports...

I mean we CAN'T know what's she is like as a judge before we see on WHAT and WHO she was judging even If we have ALL audios of her talking... It's simple as that!!
The trouble is that we won't. Unless there is a really big dramatic reason for her walking out, in which case they will show it, they will cover it up by cutting out those auditions unless they are incredible - in which case they will just edit in clips of Britney responding to other acts and pretend she was there.

Also I like Britney, but a report saying she's doing well as some fans shouted they loved her from the crowd is utter rubbish... her fans would shout they loved her if she stormed the stage and took a dump...

I saw the other day that Simon has released a video statement about the Britney walk-out thing where he says there have been no walk-offs apparently!

Then why don't you just wait and see the show instead of judging her for something you haven't seen yet.

But you can decide she's doing an amazing job on it despite the same lack of knowledge? Cool.

I'm only judging on what serious media outlets such as The Associated Press are reporting... but if you want to judge on what TMZ is reporting then let the lord use you.

The irony of jpguy calling someone else a joke. Laaaaaawd.

Anyway, Britney seems to be fine going on the audio clips leaking of her feedback. She just seems to be talking like any ordinary judge, people are only hyping it up because she was/is insane. It's like seeing a kid riding a bicycle for the first time, a nice "awwww" moment, but eventually everyone gets over it.

People are so pressed over Britney's stint here in X Factor! :o Can people just wait for the live shows to come so that you'll be able to judge her properly? :o
On a Wednesday, at a cafe, I watched it begin again.

Yes we're all here talking about the X Factor because really we care about YOU... good one.

Pollei, I have mentioned Demi! I have heard only good reviews and she hasn't done anything that we can speculate badly upon, that's the only reason people haven't!

Well, okay. You've got your point but I think Britney hasn't done anything bad either :P But to be honest, if Demi does something bad.. She'll always be overshadowed by Britney  No one gets bigger than her

Which is exactly why there is less scrutiny! I don't think you can say Britney hasn't done anything though - we have a photo of her being absent for auditionees, you're right it might not have been 'bad' but Demi hasn't done anything like that to scrutinise.. Britney has.

Let's end it here. I get your point. Let's just agree to disagree.
