I can't listen to Heartbreaker much either these days. I will only listen to it if I spin the Rainbow album, which I barely do anyway.

Sunflowers For Alfred Ray is very personal and meaningful to Mariah. I only like the bridge personally. Loved what you said about her songwriting. :D

Endless Love is simply STUNNING to me and I think it's as shame to see it crash out so early. One of the rare instances where the cover turned out better than the original IMHO.

Emotions - Come on! That's why too low!  I agree with you that it's one of her most underrated singles. Especially for a song with such great quality.

Completely agree with you on Shake It Off; it's so repetitive and boring production-wise which is why I'm glad it leaves so early from your countdown. It should thank WBT otherwise I doubt it would've gone to #2. Inconsequential song.

Very post-2000 bunch today...

Image

40. The One
A nice, mid-tempo from 'Charmbracelet'. I especially like it when the guitar kicks in. This song is miles better than 'Boy (I Need You)' but I still think it would have flopped had it been released instead.

Image

39. Don't Stop (Funkin' 4 Jamaica)
Maybe an unpopular choice here? To me, this song is so diva and lazy...because it's a Mariah Carey song but she barely sings in it! Obviously that's a big drawback (especially because I can't stand Mystikal), but the parts Mariah does sing are awesome and I really like her voice on this song (I love the bridge!). I like the video too.

Image

38. Mine Again
I can understand why some fans think this sounds like nail on a chalkboard. But for me, I really like her vocals here and I'd love to be able to hit those notes! This song can give me goosebumps - but I have to be in the right mood to listen to it.

Image

37. Through The Rain
I LOVE the lyrics to this song. They are so uplifting and they have really helped me at different points in my life. However, everything up until that final chorus is kinda boring and so I have to rank it quite low.

Image

36. Circles
A fine song. Very easy on the ears.

okay, let's do this.

50."Get Your Number": It's a cute song. Nothing special really. I really like Mariah's tiny rap(s).

49."Say Somethin'": Just bleh. If The Emancipation of Mimi represented Mariah's entire discography, "Say Somethin'" would be the equivalent of the boring Charmbracelet. and Rainbow would be represented by the mess commonly referred to as "To The Floor".

48."The Impossible": I like this song. I understand why people don't like it—it's weird to think that the same girl who helped write "Vision Of Love" wrote stuff like "love you like Duncan Hines Yellow Cake"—but whatevs. Memoirs... isn't really an album. It's just there.

47."We Belong Together": What can I say about Billboard's Song Of The Decade (2000-2009)? Everything about this song is amazing, and would be Mariah's greatest song if she didn't have a couple of other gems. It's quite sad, but understandable, that it charts out this early.

46."When You Believe": Some people don't like this song. I think it's really well done; it isn't a shout-fest!

45."Heartbreaker": I liked this song once upon a time, but don't really like it anymore. I prefer the remix, but that's not saying much. I don't listen to either version anymore.

44."Sunflowers For Alfred Roy": I don't know this song. *Nods head, then shakes head for 15 seconds*

43."Endless Love": I don't know this song. *Nods head, then shakes head for 15 seconds*

42."Emotions": Classic Mariah. Just an awesome song!
41."Shake It Off": I like this song - it's pretty fun, but manages to keep it classy, unlike the fun, classless songs on the Mehriah album E=MC2.

40.The One: I like the original version a bit. But, I like the remix a whole lot more. Like "Heartbreaker", however, it doesn't receive a whole lot of spins.

39.Don't Stop (Funkin' 4 Jamaica): The name of this song has always put me off. The song too, has always put me off.

38.Mine Again: I used to love this song when I was first experimenting with Mariah. It's really well done. It's a bit hard to get into though.

37.Through The Rain: See "Say Somethin'".

36.Circles: I love this song from the classic [i]The Emancipation Of Mimi[/b] album. It's really well written. The verses are heartbreaking.

Get Your Number: 6.5/10 - This song is actually sorta hot! I really like Jermaine's parts in this.

Say Somethin': 3.5/10 - I didn't like this much. MiMi can do way better. This song is way too repetitive.

The Impossible: 4.5/10 - This wasn't so bad. It was a bit underwhelming but I started to like it towards the end.

We Belong Together: 10/10 - Absolutely amazing! A true testament of MiMi's capability of producing a high quality track after quite a few duds. "We Belong Together" deserved every bit of success that it received. One of Mariah's signature tracks.

When You Believe: 9.5/10 - This is a duet that gets quite a bit of hate here but I think it's absolutely amazing. It's a classic for sure and I think Whitney's and Mariah's voices blended perfectly.

Heartbreaker: 5/10 - Decent enough, but still sub-par for a Mariah song.

Sunflowers for Alfred Roy: 3/10 - A bit too bland for my taste.

Endless Love: 5.5/10 - This was just alright for me.

Emotions: 9/10 - A really strong track. I've always loved this. Mariah's vocals are just stellar here.

Shake It Off: 6.5/10 - Hot track. I liked it.

The One: 6/10 - should have been a single instead of Boy
Don't Stop: 2,5/10 - One of very few songs on Glitter I detest
Mine Afain: 3/10 - One of my hate songs by her.
Through The Rain: 6,5/10 - I instantly loved it and adopted it as one of my personal anthems. I haven't played it in years.
Circles: 5/10 - It lacks a real melody and variation.

Heartbreaker: 7/10 - a fine pop tune!
Sunflowers: 10/10 - it's outstanding. I love the modulation of the melody.
Endless Love 9/10 - epic and much much better than the original.
Emotions: 6,5/10 - it has never been one of my favourites. I prefer any live version.
shake it off: 4,5/10 - slightly average. I never fell in love with it.

and since i forgot it the last time:
We Belong Together: 10/10 - trademark beat-ballad that set the tone for her comeback. I was more than addicted to it.

Here's another five...

Image

35. Crybaby
One of Mariah's most R&B songs ever! I love the video and the tone of her voice is GORGEOUS. It's gets a bit repetitive though.

Image

34. Close My Eyes
As far as I'm aware, this is quite a fan favourite? It's pretty and Mariah's vocals are so emotive.

Image

33. Babydoll
Nice album track. I prefer listening to this song in winter.

Image

32. It's Like That
The mother of all comeback singles! This was the perfect choice to lead 'Mimi' and it kick-started that fabulous era.

Image

31. Melt Away
This is a nice mid-tempo. It's quite relaxing and pleasant to listen to.

Crybaby: 6,5/10 I needed very long to appreciate this song. It's def. no filler on Rainbow.

Close My Eyes: 10/10 This song was my alltime favourite song for about 5 years until I decided to give the edge to Butterfly (the song). Close My Eyes is one of the most beautiful songs I ever heard.

Babydoll: 5/10 Together with 4th of july one of the rare filler tracks on Butterfly. I never paid much attention to it.

It's Like That: 10/10 This is truely an amazing song. I love it with all my heart. It was uplifting, relaxing, the perfect song for its intention: going out to have a party. The remixes were fabulous, the video is great, her voice in on point. The song is exciting, danceable and simply amazing.

Melt Away: 4/10 This one of those songs, I don't want her to go back to. It's boring, dull and uninspired in my eyes. Daydream has many amazing songs, but Melt Away isn't one of them.

Ohh I like this rating business!

The One - 6/10 - A nice song. Agreed that this wouldn't have been a hit even if it wasn't for "Boy".

Don't Stop - 5/10 - The bridge owns for its power vocals!

Mine Again - 10/10 - Power vocals to the 2nd power!!!

Through The Rain - 7/10 - Always loved this.

Circles - 10/10 - Simply the best ballad on the album. Wonderful melody. Couldn't disagree more with stevyy.

Crybaby - 7/10 - Love this one. It has a laid back yet emotive vibe to it.

Close My Eyes - 7/10 - A fan favorite indeed and that's partly because it's Mariah's own favorite song (alongside "Underneath The Stars") - I suspect. It's beautiful.

Babydoll - 7/10 - Very smooth and sexy.

It's Like That - 8/10 - Her real comeback single.

Melt Away - 8/10 - This is absolutely gorgeous and it perfectly showcases Mariah's sultry lower-register.

Thanks for the feedback. :D

And for those who haven't already...remember to vote in the poll! We've already lost 'Crybaby' and another one of the poll options will be in the next update! :o

I voted for "I Still Believe (Pure Imagination remix)". I was between that and "Breakdown", but went with the former in the end.

The One: I barely hear Charmbracet and Te One wasn't really a stand out.

Don't Stop... Kinda annoying IMO LOL

Mine Again: One of my favourites from TEOM!

Through The Rain: Nice, cannot see why it didn't do well...

Circles: My jam!!! Also one of my favourites from TEOM!

Crybaby is gorgeous!

The next two I don;t know yet (I still have some MC discovering to do..)

It's Like That: I never would have thought hearing it back then that THIS would be what put Mimi back on track, it sounds like a flop.. but I LOVE it, the chorus is so infectious! I am still surprised after how bad she was doing that this song put her back in track...

Melt Away is nice, but that's it.

"The One" would have flopped too but I think it would have represented the album better than "Boy (I Need You)".

Yay for "Don't Stop". It rarely receives some love. What a great summery song from Mariah. I also like her sexiness in the video, it's not too much (and that is during her slutty Glitter era).

30. Can't Let Go
Very underrated ballad from Mariah. It's a shame it broke her run of #1 singles. It sounds really dated, but that's why I like it so much - because I love the 90's!

Image

29. The Roof
I know this will disappoint some of you. I like 'The Roof' and it's definitely one of Mariah's most unique songs, but there are other songs I prefer to it. Underrated by the public, overrated by the fans.

Image

28. Stay The Night
One of the standout tracks from 'The Emancipation of Mimi'. Excellent vocals and production and I think this definitely had potential to be a hit...but Kanye prevented it from being released, right?

Image

27. Candy Bling
Nice, chilled-out mid-tempo here. Like I said, I prefer R&B Mariah, so this song is perfect for me.

Image

26. Theme From Mahogany (Do You Know Where You're Going To)
It's a shame this wasn't on the US edition of '#1's' because it's a really decent cover in my opinion. Again, it's one of those songs I just find really easy on the ears and it's really calming. Some fans say the whole song is a mess, but I think her vocals are great and those final notes are outstanding.

Can't let go: 10/10 this would easily rank within my top 10 favourite Mariah Carey songs. Epic song.

The Roof: 10/10 here we lose another of my potential top 5 favourite Mariah songs.

Stay the Night: 5,5/10 It's again rather a filler track on TEOM. I never played it that much.

Candy Bling: 1/10 Absolute crap song. It's a shame she lend her voice to such shit music.

Do you know where you're going to: 6/10 It's a lovely ballad. It was the perfect ending of the first chapter of her career and a great end titel to #1's.

There's no song that's a 'miss' for me in this batch. I agree with Theme from Mahongany, it's a decent cover. :D Candy Bling, which is hated by many fans, is a great song too.
