True. Her early work still had an R&B feel to it...but I preferred it when the R&B was more explicit and she became an urban artist, instead of being the adult contemporary artist who just sang big ballads.

"Thank God I Found You (Make It Last Remix)" is pure hotness.
I love the song. Much better than the original.

"Butterfly" is a really moving ballad.
Once...I didn't like the song, but then, after some listening, it hit me.
It truly is powerful.

"I Wish You Knew" is another brilliant track from Emancipation Of Mimi.

I never liked "100%". A little unpopular here, lol.

Butterfly is excellent and what I personally consider her real signature songs because it includes everything that makes Mariah Carey.

I Wish You Knew is one of the first songs I loved on TEOM. In fact it's one of the first songs I loved from Mariah instantly. It has great live instrumentation and a unique vibe to it with the whole in-concert sensation. The whistle note on the final chorus is astonishing!
This one is placed quite high for an "obscure" album track. I wonder what other album tracks are to follow. Interesting...

A couple of surprises up next...

Image

16. There Goes My Heart
Yes, this bonus track from 'Charmbracelet' is perhaps a surprise entry, especially considering I don't even own all of Mariah's discography. This song just oozes coolness. It's a perfect summer jam, and has quite a mature sound I think. As Mariah is getting older, I think this kind of sound would suit her very well in the future. The lyrics are really nice too.

15. I Feel It
Even more obscurity now. I only discovered this 'The Emancipation of Mimi' leftover a couple of weeks ago - but I really like it! Again, it another song perfect for summer and her vocals are great. It's very catchy and probably would have been a hit had it been allowed to be released. So many great uptempos from that era!

The only flaw on "There Goes My Heart" are Mariah's whispery vocals.
If she would've sang it like she sang on Emancipation Of Mimi, the song would've been perfect.

"When I Feel it" is AH•MAH•ZING.
That unreleased song slays your favorite's discography.

I'm surprised I know them because my Mariah discography is far from being complete!

Quite surprising entries indeed!

I agree with ANH, There Goes My Heart could have been one of Mariah's most epic songs, had it not been for the horrid vocal performance. I love the instrumental but the vocals totally wreck the song.

I Feel It is awesome though! As a matter of fact, I was thinking of how much you like TEOM and wondering if you knew about this unreleased song from the era. Glad to see this rank so high! :D I love how, much like plenty of TEOM songs, it sounds very old-school Motown. The energy and Mariah's enthusiastic vocal performance on it always puts a smile on my face.

I voted in the poll but for my second favourite because I didn't noticed my first favourite was in the poll until after I voted, looking forward to seeing what comes out on top.

There goes my heart: 7,5/10 I absolutely adore this CB bonus track. It's brilliant and great for summer nights.

I Feel It: 9/10 outstanding and much better than most of what made it onto TEOM.

14. Don't Forget About Us
I didn't realise how high I'd end up putting this one! I liked it when it was released, but it was never a big hit in the UK and it sorta just came from nowhere and I got over it quickly. But every now and again, I get back into it and this past winter, I was spinning it a lot. I always enjoy the song more in winter because that's when it was released and it always reminds me of winter 2005 (which was a very eventful one for me!) I used to think it was a cheap rip-off of 'We Belong Together', which it is in a way, but I think it should be judged as if WBT never existed, and if that's the case, it's a really good R&B ballad - one of Mariah's best.

Image

13. Honey (Def Club Mix)
Really random remix here. There's no video for it, and it is simply 'just a remix'. It's not a whole new song like other remixes (I Still Believe, Heartbreaker, etc).
However, it's not as random as you may think. This remix of 'Honey' features on the international edition of 'Butterfly' and so it's actually quite well known. And I must say...it is PHENOMENAL! I love 90's dance music and this remix compliments Mariah so well. Her voice blends with beats perfectly and the song is given a whole new life. Again, the vocals on this remix are just incredible! It doesn't drag on like some of her other dance remixes, and there is a decent amount of vocal on there, instead of just endless music (although the music is just as awesome!). Even though it's 15 years old, this remix still sounds so good in the summer.

Don't Forget About Us - I used to love this song to pieces, these days not as much. It has a great video though. I disagree with the notion that it's another WBT copy.

Honey (Def Club Mix) - I completely agree with your write up. I'm so surprised to see this one of all her mixes placed so high, though, I must say.

12. Slipping Away
I actually think I've put this one too high, it should be more like #18. But never mind! This is a solid R&B song and I think it's quite popular, despite only being a B-side. What makes the song more special is that it came before Mariah's full transition into R&B, so it definitely stands out from all Mariah's pre-Butterfly material.

Image

11. Always Be My Baby
And just by coincidence, the A-side to 'Slipping Away' is next! 'Always Be My Baby' is very enjoyable and easy to listen to. It seems to be one of those songs that everyone knows and loves. Some of you (particularly the 6 who thought this would be the highest ranked single) may think it is too low? Well, I have nothing against the song...there just happens to be 10 songs which I like better! :P

"Don't Forget About Us" is a decent track. I like the little rap thing.
Ad she looks spectacular in the music video. Seriously, the music videos forThe Emancipation Of Mimi are spectacular, second only to the ones from Butterfly.

"Honey (Def Club Remix)" is a bit long, but it's still great.

"Slipping Away" is an absolute gem!
I adore the song! And I'm glad it's so high.

"Always Be My Baby" is a really cute song.
