An alright Top 10 so far!
Not fussed about either of the Whitney records.
"The Velvet Rope" is a solid album.
"Butterfly" gets a bit boring midway through, but there's some great highlights, e.g. The Roof.
"Tragic Kingdom" is fab!

Artist: NIRVANA
Title: NEVERMIND
Year: 1991

Points: 785

Nevermind is the second studio album by the American rock band Nirvana, released on September 24, 1991. Produced by Butch Vig, Nevermind was the group's first release on DGC Records. Frontman Kurt Cobain sought to make music outside the restrictive confines of the Seattle grunge scene, drawing influence from groups such as the Pixies and their use of song volume dynamics.

Title: JAGGED LITTLE PILL
Year: 1995

Points: 836

Jagged Little Pill is the third studio album by Canadian recording artist and songwriter Alanis Morissette. Morissette's first internationally released album, and her first studio album after the three year hiatus following her break with MCA Records, it became a commercial and critical success, selling over 33 million copies worldwide. Co-written with the album's producer, Glen Ballard, who introduced a pop sensibility to Morissette's bitter angst, Jagged Little Pill produced six singles, including the Grammy nominated "Ironic".

Artist: MICHAEL JACKSON
Title: HISTORY
Year: 1995

Points: 858

Image

HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I (usually shortened to HIStory) is the ninth studio album by American recording artist Michael Jackson, released on June 16, 1995 by Epic Records. The majority of the album's tracks were written and produced by Jackson. HIStory was the first album to be released by Jackson since he was accused of child sexual abuse in August 1993. Recorded during late 1994 and early 1995, several of the double album's fifteen songs pertain to the accusations and Jackson's mistreatment in the media, specifically the tabloids. The songs' themes included environmental awareness, isolation, greed, and injustice.

Artist: MADONNA
Title: RAY OF LIGHT
Year: 1998

Points: 1,050

Ray of Light is the seventh studio album by American singer-songwriter Madonna, released on March 3, 1998 by Maverick Records. After giving birth to her daughter Lourdes, Madonna collaborated with Patrick Leonard and William Orbit in developing the album. Following failed sessions with other producers, Madonna pursued a new musical direction with Orbit. The album is a pop and dance record, yet, it contains elements of electronic music within its composition, making it a departure from her previous work. Additionally, it incorporates several genres and subgenres, including techno and ambient. The album has several themes, including spirituality.

Kidding aside,

I'm so happy that HIStory is not ignored anymore, because quality wise it is way better than Dangerous imo.

Though Dangerous has some of Michael's biggest hits whereas HIStory never produced a 'smash' hit single.

Jagged Little Pill is pretty fantastic. "You Oughta Know" is arguably the best song of the 90's.

HiStory is pretty good. "You Are Not Alone" and "They Don't Care About Us" rank amongst the very best MJ tunes.

Dangerous is an even stronger album than it's successor. "Remember The Time", "Black Or White", "Who Is It", "Will You Be There", "Gone Too Soon", and "Give In To Me" are all fine tunes!

As for the #1, much congrats to Madge! I've never gotten into Ray of Light and I feel that Bedtime Stories is far superior but there's no denying that Ray of Light was a truly groundbreaking record.

Much thanks for putting all of this together, Star! You did a fine (and speedy) job. :D
