To The Floor - It's one of the weakest song on TEOM imo, although the production is hot, Nelly did a good job

Ribbon - One of the best on Memoirs, it's imo very commercial and has single potential.

Vanishing - A bit boring imo, although her vocla is great. Well it's Mariah's favorite song? Surprised.

Sent From Up Above - A cool uptempo from her debut album, it's one of her best among her earlier uptempo

Angels Cry - I never really liked it, it's just okay, Neyo also didn't add something new on the remix, but the songs had great lyrics

Want You - the intro is cool, but the whole song is just meh, it's too retro for me, her vocal is not great, too much whisperish vocal, one of my least fave songs from her actually

Reflections (Care Enough) - One of the best songs on Glitter, Glitter's ballads are all great actually

Outside - One of the best songs on Butterfly, the intro is so beautiful, the vocal is great

Open Arms - Love this, a great cover, better than the original, definitely one of the highlights on Daydream

Melt Away - Another great song on Daydream, what a solid album. The melody is actually very simple but great.

oh my, I'm gone for a weekend and now I'm terribly terribly behind! :o

"Clown" = I do like the fact that she wasn't afraid to take some jabs at Eminem, but I'm not really in love with the song itself. not one of the worst on CB, but not one of the best either.

"Close My Eyes" = definitely very pretty, but one of my least favorite (well, let's say least-listened-to) Butterfly tracks, along with "Beautiful Ones". I think it might be because that album just has several even better ballads (the title track, "Whenever You Call", "My All", "The Outside").

"More Than Just Friends" = one of the most forgettable moments on MOAIA. I honestly can't even remember how the chorus goes *gives it a quick listen* yeah...just a bland, boring mess. this is way too high.

"Long Ago" = it's noteworthy for being one of the most R&B-sounding songs on Daydream, but I feel the same way as I do about "Clown": it's not the worst on the album (granted, there isn't really anythign BAD on Daydream, but it's not the best either.

"You Had Your Chance" = one of a few VERY forgettable CB tracks. this one should be even lower!

"I Don't Wanna Cry" = ouch! I suppose this is most people's least favorite MC single (and it's mine as well), but I certainly wouldn't put it THIS low! I'd say it's still Top 50-worthy.

"Candy Bling" = I was really disappointed with MOAIA on first listen, but this was one of the few tracks that actually stood out right away. it currently stands as my 3rd-most-played song from that album. I love the "my sweet baby, my sweet thing, like candy..." bits, SO catchy!

"Everything Fades Away" = eh, I think this was justifiably left off the US version of Music Box. it's not terrible, but I don't think it really fits with the rest of that fabulous album.

"Inseparable" = not the worst on MOAIA, but far from the best. it took a very long time to grow on me at all.

"Underneath The Stars" = I would LOVE to have the super-rare-single of this! not only do I love the cover art, but the Drifting Remix is pretty fantastic.

"More Than Just Friends" = definitely one of the most forgettable moments on MOAIA. I honestly can't even remember how it goes *gives it a listen* yeah...just a bland, boring mess. this doesn't deserve to be on any kind of Mariah best-of list.

"Ribbon" = I thought this was a ridiculous mess on first listen, I thought that auto-tuned-deep-voice effect was just unlistenable. BUT after sticking it out and listening to it in full a few times, the parts where Mariah actually sings those "I got your lovin' on my mind" bits really got in my head - now this is my second-most-played MOAIA song.

"Vanishing" = such epic vocals! no-one else could do this justice.

"To The Floor" = Nelly was actually still pretty relevant in 2005, so it was pretty disappointing that this collabo turned out to be so underwhelming. one of the weakest tracks on Mimi.

"Sent From Up Above" = not bad by any means, but it does get over-shadowed by the more epic moments on her debut.

"Angels Cry" = like "Candy Bling", the original version of this was one of the few MOAIA tracks that actually stood out on first listen. I still enjoy both versions, but Ne-Yo does enjoy a nice little extra something.

"Want You" = like "All My Life", it's not that I really strongly dislike this...I just never listen to it. I just find it forgettable.

"Reflections" = I've never felt too strongly about this as a whole, there's better ballads on Glitter, but the "you could have had the decency to give me up before you gave me life" line is quite intense :o basically "you might as well have just aborted me". powerful stuff!

"Outside" = this one is pretty lovely - a nice expression of Mariah's childhood struggles with her bi-racial identity/empowerment message that isn't quite as cheesy as "Hero" or "Can't Take That Away".

"Open Arms" = I think a part of what makes this one of Mariah's most forgettable singles is the fact that it wasn't even released here in the US, her biggest market. it's not an amazing cover, but not a bad one either.

"Melt Away" = one of the smoothest moments on Daydream.

#104.

Vanishing.

Nice track, but I have barely heard her debut.

#103.

To The Floor.

So catchy! I love the guy voice, goes well with the song! Such a jam and the drums are so irresistible but not one of the best from Mimi but should be higher I think

#102.

Sent From Up Above.
One of the better moments of MC IMO

#101.

Angels Cry.

Not her best single, but listenable. :)

Want You.

Though far from incredible just like most of the tracks from Glitter, the chorus is really nice. Mariah's vocals on this song are good and the addition of Eric Benet makes for a welcome duet.

#99.

Reflections (Care Enough).

Yet another Glitter track bites the dust. I really like the verses and Mariah's voice on the chorus is really beautiful. Overall, it's a good track.

#98.

Outside.

Mariah's vocals on this track are brilliant but it's so slow. She does manage to bring it home in the end so it closes out on a high note.

#97.

Open Arms.

This Journey cover easily ranks amongst Mariah's most forgettable singles. However, the chorus is really nice - the highlight of the track. I do feel that Mariah sounds a bit restrained on this one. I just want her to let go and belt to her heart's content.

#96.

Melt Away.

The chorus on this song is so beautiful, but the verses really drag down the whole quality of the song for me. It's still a decent track, though.
Want YOu, possibly my favourite from Glitter or at least top 5! So low, the whole duet is perfect, their voices compliment each other's so much!!

Reflections: I love this, a great ballad but I flinch when I hear "you could've had the decency to give me up before you gave me life" cause it reminds me of abortion and I disagree strongly with it.

Outside, nice song, not a stand out but not a bad song from Butterfly

Open Arms: Hmm. have I heard this? I don't remember.. such a bad fan..
Melt Away: Nice track, very smooth. Rather in the middle of Daydream tracks, not the best or worst

Oh ok thanks for clearing that up, and that makes me not be able to listen to it, I cringe every time due to personal opinions but the melody of the song is nice, I just don't like the message.

#95.

Irresistible (West Side Connection).

Image

Though far from being one of her best tracks, I like this Urban tune. The rap verse is surprisingly good.

#94.

Fourth of July.

Image

I love the melody of this song but I just feel that it doesn't really go anywhere.

#93.

Honey.

Image

Shocker? Mariah's got a fair share of overrated singles, but this is definitely the most overrated single of her career. Mind you, the music video's incredible and ranks amongst her best, but the song leaves much to be desired, in my opinion. The chorus is underwhelming and the verses are pretty boring.

#92.

Just To Hold You Once Again.

Image

This is another one of those songs that starts off really strong and then we reach an underwhelming chorus. It's a nice track, but I just feel like it could've been so much better.

#91.

I Wish You Well.

Image

This is certainly not a bad song by any means, but Mariah's got a ton of inspirational songs that blow this one out of the water. It's definitely one of the weakest from E=MC².

"Irresistible" = I actually like this one! it wouldn't make my Top 50, but it's definitely better than several other songs on CB. the raps actually don't bother me at all either.

"Fourth Of July" = it's nice, but it does feel a bit like a poor-man's "Underneath The Stars" (although apparently you actually like this one better than UTS...).

"Honey" = yeah...I'm not quite as offended by this as I am by your "Breakdown" ranking...but it's still pretty unacceptable. "Honey" is so sexxxxayyyyy, the perfect single to launch her new independent image! it would definitely make my Top 20, possibly Top 10.

"Just To Hold You Once Again" = nice, but a bit dull/forgettable. it's definitely over-shadowed by the other Music Box ballads.

"I Wish You Well" = not my cup of tea, so I don't mind seeing this one so low. it's one of my least-played tracks from E=MC2.

Honey gets undeserving hate from you, maybe it's not her best but wow so low!  I love how it brings me in, it literally feels like you are hearing honey if that makes any sense, but whatever.... I will resist beating you up for that.

4th of July, definitely not the best moment in Butterfly, at all....

Just To Hold You Again, nice ballad but can get drowsy a bit, but I was just singing this earlier so it does get stuck in my head.. but dull compared to most ofMusic Box especially the fact that it's before my jam I've Been Thinking About YOu LOL, I just wanna make it hurry up so I can listen to IBTAY!

I still cannot get into E=MC2 and Charmbracelet, I hope I eventually can though!

Irresistible - Among the weakest song on Charmbracelet imo, but it's not bad, i like Charmbracelet album overall, so underrated.

Fourth Of July - Sorry to say, one of my least fave songs from her ever, i just don't like the voice, it's like a bad rehash of Underneath The Stars. It's very boring after a couple of listens. Meh.

Honey - How dare you, ranking this extremely low
Funny, Honey video was the first ever Mariah video i saw when i was 10 in 1998, i hated that song at that time, i consider it so weird. But after i became a fan of Mariah, i love the song till now. Anyway, one of the dirtiest Mariah's songs  she literally talks about oral sex and cum facial. Honey was one of her best songs ever easily. Among my top 20

Just To Hold You Once Again - A great ballad on Music Box, very underrated, and overshadowed by her other ballads. It lacks of something special imo, just fine.

I Wish You Well - My least favorite ballad on E=MC2, a bit boring, although it gives E=MC2 a variety. It sounds dated imo. It's a peaceful song though.

Candy Bling : One of my favourite tracks off "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel". In fact, it is one of the few tracks from that album that got more than 15 spins. 6.5/10

Everything Fades Away : Mediocre for Mariah's standards and one of the weakest tracks from "Music Box". 3/10

Inseparable :      1/10

Underneath The Stars : One of my favourite tracks from "Daydream". It isn't that instant for me though, took me about 15 (?) plays before I started realising the greatness of this song. Underrated by the public, somewhat overrated by the fans. Deserves a top 30/40 placing. 7.5/10

More Than Just Friends : Filler, though not as bad as "Inseparable". Still gets plays RARELY though. 3/10

Ribbon : Decent... not one of my favourites though. 4/10

Vanishing : This is great, in fact one of my favourite songs from her debut (along with "Prisoner", "Love Takes Time" and "Vision of Love"). Deserves to be ranked higher, IMO. 7/10

To The Floor : A decent song, though it isn't on par with the other Mimi tracks. Ranked appropriately imo, and this song doesn't really get played really often. 5.5/10

Sent From Up Above : One of the few fillers from her debut IMO. 3/10

Angel's Cry : My favourite track from "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel". Gutted to see it crash out so low, especially when it's one of Mariah's best ballads released in the 2000s. It would definitely be at least in my top 30. 8/10

Want You : One of my absolute hate tracks from Mariah. 1/10

Reflections (Care Enough) : This, along with Angel's Cry, are one of her best ballads released in the 2000s. This track is also one of my favourites from "Glitter" and IMO I think it should have been ranked higher. It was one of the first few songs I heard from Mariah. 7/10

Outside : The lyrics to this song is beautiful, but the song itself really isn't on par with the other "Butterfly" tracks. I do spin this quite regularly just because of its lyrics, though, and that is enough for me to rank this track a little higher. 6.5/10

Melt Away : Decent... but really pales in comparison to other "Daydream" tracks. It seems to get quite a lot of love from some fans and I don't really get why. 4/10

Irresistible (West Side Connection) : Filler track from "Charmbracelet". One of the worst fillers, in fact. 2/10

Fourth Of July : Some fans say that this is a replica of "Underneath The Stars", and I have to agree. Some fans say UTS is much better than this track, but I have to say I really find them comparable to each other and both are great. 7.5/10

Honey : This song is one of my least-played Mariah lead singles ever (after "Emotions" and "Obsessed"). However, that does not deny the fact that this is indeed a Mariah classic and some fans may think that this certainly deserves a much higher placing than #93. I'm not fussed over how you ranked it though as I wouldn't have ranked it very high myself. 6.5/10

Just To Hold You Once Again : The worst track from "Music Box". 1.5/10

I Wish You Well : I LOVE gospel Mariah, and this is her weakest gospel track, by far, for me. It's ranked quite appropriately. 5/10

My comments from older ranking:

Bliss - One of the bets songs on Rainbow! I like her whistle register acrobatic. Rainbow is a good album!

The Wind - ZZZZZZ, one of her most boring song imo, my leats fave song from Emotions

Loverboy - I love Loverboy!!!! So underrated, it's actually catchy!

Twister - One of the best songs on Glitter imo, love her sudden whistles in the middle. Should've been a longer song! Well Glitter ballads are great

How Much - A cool collaboration with Usher, it could've been a great single imo.

If We - A good production, not bad but it's an okay song from Glitter

Did I Do That? - Considered as one her worst songs by many fans, i don't think so, aside from that awful rapper's voice, i quite like Mariah's part. It's a fun song.

Say Something - I never really liked this song, one of her weakest singles imo. It's just okay. It's overrated imo among fans.

I Only Wanted - I LOVE this song! One of her best non album tracks ever!!! It's like a sister of My All and After Tonight.

Sunflowers for Alrfed Roy - It's fine. Not amazing, not bad. Well, it's a song dedicated to her father. It's decent enough.

Breakdown - Greta production, but it's so overrated among fans, not that amazing.

Looking In - A cool and sad ballad from Daydream, well Daydream is too solid, all songs are great.

Petals - One of the best album tracks on Rainbow. So haunting!

You Got Me - A cool song, i think the childish vocal really adds something interesting in the song.

All My Life - Meh, don't like it, too retro, it's not a bad song though

The Impossible - May i say? This is THE MOST BORING ballad Mariah ever recorded imo, one of my least fave songs from her ever. It actually has a very strong beat, should've been faster but the chorus is just unbelievably monotonous and boring as hell.

Last Night A DJ Saved My Life - Not bad, but i don't like it, a forgettable track from Glitter

Babydoll - Great production, great beat, but overall the song is meh, one of my least fave songs from her and easily my least fave from Butterfly

Subtle Invitation - Easily one of the standouts from Charmbracelet. Should've been much higher. Love the saxophone sound!

Didn't Mean To Turn You On - Just meh, not enjoyable at all, one of her worst songs, boring

Clown - Love this, one of the best songs on Charmbracelet, a great attempt to diss Eminem!

Close My Eyes - A great ballad from Butterfly, just fine, like her vocal though

Long Ago - Probably one of her earliest urban oriented song from her, one of the best from Daydream

You Had Your Chance - One of the weakest song on Charmbracelet, although the production is great

I Don't Wanna Cry - An underrated ballad single from her, i like her lower register in the song

Yep! About ninety to be exact. 8-)

phoenix98 wrote:"Irresistible" = I actually like this one! it wouldn't make my Top 50, but it's definitely better than several other songs on CB. the raps actually don't bother me at all either.

I'm glad that we agree on 4/5 tracks. I expected an even worse reaction to "Honey" being so low so yay for that!

swiftie13 wrote:Honey gets undeserving hate from you, maybe it's not her best but wow so low!

That makes no sense and gurl, you can't take me. 8-)

BlackStar wrote:For unknown reasons, I share the same sentiment on "Honey". It's my least favorite lead single from Mariah, and whenever I play Butterfly, I always skip that track. Video's great though.
Whoa! Finally someone who shares my sentiments! :D

leoapp wrote:Irresistible - Among the weakest song on Charmbracelet imo, but it's not bad, i like Charmbracelet album overall, so underrated.

Thanks for the review! Glad to see we're on the same page bar "Honey", of course.

Whoa! :o Much thanks for the in-depth review! I love how "Inseparable" is so terrible that it doesn't even warrant a review!

The Wind - ZZZZZZ, one of her most boring song imo, my leats fave song from Emotions

Twister - One of the best songs on Glitter imo, love her sudden whistles in the middle. Should've been a longer song! Well Glitter ballads are great

How Much - A cool collaboration with Usher, it could've been a great single imo.

Joy Ride.

The Emancipation of Mimi is a great record and while there are no real clunkers (except for maybe "Say Somethin'" and "To The Floor"), this one is definitely sub-par in comparison to the album's stronger tracks. The verses are actually superior to the chorus, in my opinion.

#89.

It's A Wrap.

Image

This one's a nice track but again the song's pretty underwhelming when you think of what Mimi's capable of. Good verses, though.

#88.

Heartbreaker.

Image

It's amazing that this was actually a #1 hit, as I feel it's certainly one of her weakest lead singles. The video was reportedly one of the most expensive music videos ever made. Shame that she didn't save the budget for the better songs on Rainbow.

#87.

Dreamlover.

Image

Yet another one of Mariah's revered classics bites the dust. This one has a really nice melody but Mariah's vocals aren't put to good use, disappointingly.

#86.

Boy (I Need You).

Image

For a track on Charmbracelet, this is probably above average, but overall, it's just alright. The chorus is good.

Joy Ride - One of my fave non single from TEOM. Great vocal, great melody. A standout track from TEOM.

It's A Wrap - It's just an okay urban song. Not bad, not great. So so.

Heartbreaker - Nah, one of my fave songs from her. The original version >>>>>>>>>>> the remix version. This was the first Mariah's song that made excited i her. The music video is easily her best.

Dreamlover - This is actually my 2nd least favorite lead single from her, after I'll Be There and Touch My Body, It's a cool pop song, but i don't know, it lacks of something which makes it less special compared to her other lead singles. It's a classic though.

Boy (I Need You) - One of her most UNDERRATED singles! It's very fun and catchy, and the music video is her 2nd best imo. I like this song so much.

Joy Ride : It's decent, but one of the worst tracks off "The Emancipation of Mimi" seeing how great that album is. 5.5/10

It's A Wrap : Yet another filler from "Memoirs...". Never did like this song from first listen. 2/10

Heartbreaker : This song is so overrated. The music video is indeed one of her best, though, and it's one of Mariah's better uptempo songs. It's quite too low for me. 7/10

Dreamlover : This track is one of the gems off "Music Box"... it's one of my favourite lead singles by Mariah from the '90s... deserves to be much higher imo. 8/10

Boy (I Need You) : This track is so underrated. One of the forgotten singles in her discography imo - it's such good tune. Deserves much more than what it achieved on the charts. 6.5/10
