yes. I am surprised the U2, Simple Minds, Simon And Garfunkel, Jacksons, Nine Inch Nails and George Michael tracks, old as they may be, haven't been heard from anyone near a radio in the past 10-15 years, all of those songs get catalog airplay. I'd say most people my age are more familiar with those songs than Pixie Lott
Never heard of anyone you've mentioned apart from Pixie Lott - then again I have both her albums
:o you've never heard of U2 or Michael Jackson? :o

15 (16 in May), but to be fair I only got into music at the end of 2010, when my first song I bought was Only Girl in the World after Rihanna's X Factor performance. I did have her GGGB:Reloaded album before that, and its the only album I had before that I still love to pieces - thats why Rihanna is my #1, for sentimental reasons as well as her amazing music! I'll be in the RiRiNavy4Life!

Closer and Where The Streets Have No Name still get a lot of airplay on rock radio. Surprised you don't know the Simple Minds track, its pretty much a theme song used for the 80s thanks to its association with The Breakfast Club. In the US I think the song is more famous than they are as a whole (since Alive And Kicking was their only other major hit stateside).

When I watched the Simple Minds track on YouTube, I recognised it from a Simpsons episode. That's the only way I know it (didn't know who it was by though).

And do you honestly think I listen to rock radio?

EDIT - It was Family Guy, not The Simpsons :)

In fairness, Kunoichime is 15-16. How many 15-16 year olds beyond the occasional rock kid who discovers Pink Floyd, were listening to music beyond the current era when we were that age either? If you'd told me when I was 15 that some time down the line that I would be a big fan of Paul Simon and Stevie Wonder, I never would've believed you. So I think he can be cut some slack, it isn't like a 28 year old I remember who whined about how anything pre-2007 was dinosaur music

Closer has NEVER had decent airplay in UK. Maybe on XFM and nighttime Radio 1. We just don't have the same radio outlets you have. NIN have never had major airplay - apart from maybe The Hand That Feeds.

At this point, Closer is the only NIN track that still gets heavy airplay on the rock stations here, but its become one of those songs like Smells Like Teen Spirit and Black Hole Sun that on US rock radio has been ridiculously overplayed over the years and still gets played often. Funny considering the content of the song is something you'd think radio would avoid, even with f*** censored out of the song.

well was just backing up why you should be given some slack for not knowing a lot of "the classics" that a lot of older music fans know, because pretty much everyone is the same way as a teen, the only exception are the "classic rock" listening teens who adore the older rock bands, but that's the exception to the rule. Most 15-16 year olds don't give a crap about 60's-90's artists.

No, sorry, I wasn't meaning to sound rude like that, I meant ? at the 28 year-old you remember. Sorry for that confusion, I thank you for your view though.
