There are a couple of other songs left off that album too, which makes me sad.

But perhaps the worst thing is including the remix of 'Like a Prayer'. :x

Agree here too, the single version is a "classic" raplace it for that tacky remix has been an insane choice :-?

2 80's classics up next...

Image

12. Dress You Up
Another classic Madonna song which is overlooked. I think that because it wasn't included on 'The Immaculate Collection'. Apparently there was controversy over this song because it is metaphorically about female ejaculation? This is news to me and I've never even thought of the song in that way (I still don't). It's a loveable pop song and Madonna at her 80's best.

11. Into The Groove
This is Madonna's biggest selling single in the UK, which is quite an achievement considering just how many singles she has released. I've noticed that even people who don't like Madonna (in the UK) like this song and I think this is definitely one of her signature songs over here. I wasn't around when it was released but I remember it very well because my mom has always liked this song. So there is a bit of nostalgia there for me too. Again, this is just another awesome pop song in my opinion and I really wish I was around when it was released to witness just how big Madonna was at the time.

Into The Groove is the anthem! Love it.

Dress You Up is a hit and miss for me.

Two of my faves are already gone: 'La Isla Bonita' and 'Frozen'. :(

Now I'm just waiting for 'Like a Prayer'. :P

"Human Nature" = the attitude in this is just awesome. a wonderfully edgy moment that stands out from the generally soft Bedtime Stories. definitely of her best singles of the 90's for me. "did I say something wrong, oops, I didn't know I couldn't talk about sex..."

"Who's That Girl" = eh...I'm not too crazy about this one, but I do agree that it was an odd choice to leave it off TIC when it went to No. 1 in the US AND UK!

"Dress You Up" =  I always knew this song was a bit raunchy, but I didn't realize it was about...THAT! I feel so naive! oh well, I guess I don't spend that much time thinking about female anatomy...

"Into The Goove" = aw, I'm sad to see this miss the Top 10, but at least it came very close! definitely one of her all-time greatest moments! <3

10. Girl Gone Wild
I wasn't sure where to put Madonna's latest single. At the minute I LOVE this song and it just keeps growing on me, so I could have put it higher. But there are also other songs (9 to be exact) which I have liked for much longer and so feel more connected to. Still, top 10 for MDNA is pretty good and this means that all of Madonna's studio albums have appeared in my chart (which also means a song from 80's/90's/00's/10's).

I was interested in this song immediately, just from the snippet which was leaked months ago. And when I heard it - it did not disappoint! It's so catchy and reminds me of a lot of Madonna's other songs - a return to form indeed! Lots of people said the chorus was weak but that's my favourite part of the song! And next...the video! This is probably my favourite Madonna video in years (since What It Feels Like For a Girl) and it made me love the song even more. The choreography and Madonna dancing with the guys on the second chorus is just awesome! And so I'm very sad that this song has been a huge flop! I prefer it to so many of her recent singles and was really hoping it would be a big hit.

I told you my top 10 might be controversial.

I hope other people can see why I put it in my top 10 though - this is the closet thing we've got to 'classic' Madonna in years.

Girl Gone Wild sounds way too much like Britney.

But loving the 80's greats listed, like Who's That Girl, Into The Groove and Dress You Up

"Holiday" is fantastic and "Human Nature" is even better.

I also like "Girl Gone Wild". :)

:o no...no...just...no. easily one of the worst singles of her entire career. it's just...so...weak. throwing a bunch of shirtless, kissing boys in the video (aka pandering to us gays in the least creative way possible) did nothing to redeem this song for me. GMAYL was nothing brilliant, but it was a lot of fun and at least sounded a bit different from most of the stuff on radio right now. Nicki and M.I.A. aside, that felt more like a "return to form" than this generic, boring mess.

but...I gotta say...kudos for starting off your Top 10 with a VERY surprising pick! ;)

Moving on to something which is perhaps less controversial...

9. Erotica
This song used to scare me. It's so dark and underground and definitely NOT for kids! But I was also very intrigued by it so it's one of her first songs I downloaded when I grew up. It's quite hypnotising I think and many people didn't really get the song, but I totally understand it - and the whole thing she was trying to do at the time. I just wish I was old enough to remember the 'Erotica' era because it seems like it was her most interesting and creative. I probably would have stanned for her so hard back then!

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE Erotica! The chorus is so captivating! The music is also great, the dated sound really helps it IMO!

12. Dress You Up - Too high IMO. Really good song though! 80´s from the begining to the end !

11. Into The Groove - Would be in my Top 10 . I never get tired of this one !

10. Girl Gone Wild - :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o . IMO this one shouldn´t even be a single, let alone rank in her ALL TIME TOP 10

9. Erotica - WOW ! The song that made me fall in love with her ! I used to be awake until late night to try to catch the video on MTV , since they just aired it after 10 P.M. or Midnight, I´m not sure(I was 12 back then  ) . The album as a whole is exceptional and this era alone is worth many artists entire careers !
Denise , we ( Madonna Fans ) will miss you A LOT !

"Erotica" is great even though I had mental scarring when I dreamt that my sister-in-law made a video of her singing it
