80. Stay The Night

One of the decent non-album tracks off "The Emancipation of Mimi". This track isn't as amazing as it is made out to be, but it's still a decent track nonetheless. The third track off her comeback album to chart. I really like her vocal performance in this song, though.

Image

79. Vanishing

"Vanishing" is the 2nd track off her debut to chart. "Vanishing" is by far one of the best non-single tracks from her debut. It is decent, but I don't really like it that much to rank this as high as some of you would rank it. It is, however, one of my favourites from her debut, though.

Image

78. So Blessed

Before I made this countdown, probably around a year ago, this would definitely make my top 50. Since then, this has grown off me a bit and that explains its "low" ranking on this countdown. It's by far the "forgotten single" along with "And You Don't Remember" off "Emotions". It deserved a shot, at least, in the US.

Image

77. And You Don't Remember

Two "Emotions" tracks fall in a row. "And You Don't Remember" is my favourite album track off "Emotions". The song is a smash. Though the singles released were somewhat correct, this should have been at least released as 5th single off the album. I feel that this is also one of her most underrated tracks ever as it doesn't seem to be mentioned a lot by the lambs.

Image

76. I Wish You Well

"I Wish You Well" is the third track off "E=MC²" to chart. This track, though called a borefest by some, is a really, really good gospel track and is a really good ending to the cohesive album. This is a really soothing track. Mariah should have performed this track live at least once with a medley of "Fly Like A Bird" or something.

"Stay The Night" is a great track, one of my faves from The Emancipation of Mimi. I really love Carey's soulful vocals on this track. 8.5/10.

"Vanishing" is actually one of the weakest tracks on Mariah's self-titled debut album. I've never really been a big fan of it. 4/10.

You've ranked "So Blessed" perfectly! It was my #78. 6/10.

"And You Don't Remember" has a beautiful chorus but the verses are too underwhelming for it to be a truly high-quality track. 5.5/10.

"I Wish You Well" is my least fave track from E=MC² but it's definitely grown on me since I ranked it at #91 on my countdown. 6/10.

I love "One & Only". But then again, I love almost every track on that album.

I enjoy "Babydoll". It's bit long, but it's always a treat to hear.

I like "Sweetheart". I don't think it's as bad as some make it out to be. There was a time when I couldn't listen to it, though. I guess it grew on me and I hope it grows on the lambs, too!

"The Wind" is a really well done song. I'm surprised it charts out this early.

I liked and still like "Bliss".

I never could get into "Sunflowers..". It's too personal for me to connects with the song. I won't rag on it because it's Mariah's way of coping with the loss of her father.

I think "Get Your Number" is a fun, playful track. It's not bad, by any means, but it's one of the weaker tracks on Emancipation of Mimi.

I also like "Angel (Prelude)". Much better than "Angels Cry", "Languishing" and "I Want To Know What Love Is".

"Candy Bling" can't hold a candle to "Underneath The Stars" or "Fourth Of July", but it's still a half-decent tune.

I like "Side Effects". It's alright.

I really like "When Christmas Comes". There are some wonderfully written songs on that album! This is one of those.

I also like "Now That I Know" despite confessing ages ago that it was boring. It's one of my favorites on Music Box.

"Emotions" is such a fun song to sing too!! Should be much higher than eighty.

"Subtle Invitation" is a cute song.

"Stay The Night" is much too low mate. Much, much, much, much, much too low.

"Vanishing" is perfect. I love her singing; absolutely effortless.

DUDS:
"Boy (I Need You)" is an absolutely horrible song.
"O.O.C." has a fantastic intro, and then it deteriorates..rapidly. Eurgh..what an awful song.

Thanks for all the comments, especially at ANH for writing the in-depth review! :)

75. Outside

One of my initial favourites off "Butterfly" , this track certainly has grown off me a little. I do enjoy the the meaning of the song, though, and the fact that the song is about her struggle with her racial problems just proves Mariah's impeccable talent as a songwriter. I do appreciate that the song is very personal to her and such, but I just can't get into the song as much as I did last time.

Image
74. The First Noel / Born Is The King (Interlude)

This song is a decent one off her latest Christmas effort. It was my jam during Christmas last year, and this was the first track I instantly liked when the album leaked. As much as I like this song, I feel that Mariah has better Christmas classics, and hence the "low" ranking of this song. I do like her vocals in this song though.

Image
73. Open Arms

The first "Daydream" song to chart. This cover is actually decent, and I prefer this to the original TBH. It isn't actually my favourite Mariah cover, though, as plenty more are higher up. It's definitely underrated though, when people talk about her covers as this one never seems to get mentioned. Not one of my favourite songs from "Daydream" , sadly.

Image
72. Looking In

Two "Daydream" songs crash out in a row. I've just recently appreciated the beauty of this song more, so I'm kinda disappointed in myself for ranking this track at #72 when I compiled the list for this countdown. It'll definitely be in my top 50 now. This song has a similar message to "Outside" IMO, though it may be dealing with other problems. The song is a bit too "dark" for me, though.

Image
71. Obsessed

The lead single off her 2009 album, "Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel". A fun pop-tune, this song gets unfairly criticized by fans and the public alike. The lyrics of this song are genius though, mainly because of the shade she throws at numerous people with this song. When it was released, the title and lyrics of the song were a little controversial, mainly because of her feud with Eminem at that time. I do believe this was about Eminem, though, as the lyrics sound like what Em would do.

"Outside" is a pretty average album cut, in my opinion. As you noted, it's great that Mariah wrote about such a touchy issue but I also never really got into the song much. 5/10.

"The First Noel/Born Is The King (Interlude)" is decent. When it comes to Christmas songs from Mariah, I hardly ever listen to anything other than "All I Want For Christmas Is You" and "Oh Santa!". 5/10.

"Open Arms" is a decent cover, but it's only a bit better than the original. In Carey's career, she's slayed some of her covers so this one is definitely sub-par in comparison. 5/10.

"Looking In" is easily one of my least fave MC songs. It's just so monotonous. 3.5/10.

Ah, I love "Obsessed"! As you noted, the song throws so much shade, mostly at Eminem. It's really catchy, very fun, and definitely one of my fave post-2000 singles from Carey. Best of the batch for sure! 9.5/10.

I love the message in "Outside", but sometimes, I don't like her delivery. The transitions (whisper-to-belt, etc...) grate on my nerves at times.

I love "The First Noel/Born Is The King (Interlude)" song. Especially the interlude. Should have been it's own song.

I like "Open Arms" even if people claim it to be uninspired.

"Looking In" is so sad. I love it though.

Aargh! I love "Obsessed". I remember the day it came out! Woo. It's still a smash, IMO.

Back from a 3 week hiatus. :)

70 ¬ I Don't Wanna Cry

This has somewhat been a fan favourite single, but to be honest I really, really have differing opinions of this song at different times. Sometimes I really love it, while sometimes I just find it bland compared to her superb discography. That's one of the main reasons why it's this low on the countdown, I guess. It definitely is a right single choice, though.

69 ¬ Petals

One of the most underrated tracks of her career, and gets undeserved hate from the lambs. It is definitely one of the standouts of a subpar-album, "Rainbow". It was initially meant to make my top 50, but after re-discovering some of her tracks, it got pushed down to this position. It really is a great song, though, and people should give this song a chance if they haven't yet as they may be surprised.

68 ¬ Everything Fades Away

A recent discovery of mine, after relistening to "Music Box". It is a good track, though not as amazing as others. "Everything Fades Away" has a deep meaning and is probably one of the more relatable songs from "Music Box". I know I don't rate it as highly as some lambs do. Similarly, I don't despise it as some others do as I do find this to be a listening pleasure to the ears.

67 ¬ Hark! The Herald Angels Sing

One of my favourite versions of this song, and Mariah's vocals are just stunning in this Christmas tune. "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing" is one of my favourite recordings from her first Christmas album. I don't see it ranked on any other Mariah countdown. It is a good track and really gets you into the festive mood.

66 ¬ If It's Over

This ranking may be a shocker to some as I know of many lambs who rate this song relatively highly. This is a great song, no doubt, but it just pales in comparison to the other classics Mariah has. "If It's Over" has had some stellar live performances, though, and that is probably one of the reasons why this song has grown on me ever since I started this countdown. It'll probably be in my top 40 now.

65 ¬ Silent Night

Yet another Christmas tune recorded for her first Christmas LP. "Silent Night" is the opening track, and this is an amazing recording of this song. It is, in fact, my favourite version of this song ever. Mariah manages to incorporate her huge vocal range into this track despite its legendary status. This proves how great a vocalist Mariah is.

64 ¬ Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town

Two Christmas tracks fall in a row. This may be the most classic and well-known Christmas song of all-time. Mariah's version of this song send chills down my spine and this is an absolutely incredible song. I do listen to it sometimes outside of the Christmas season, too. I guess this version has stood the test of time as it still sounds fresh today (IMO).

63 ¬ Shake It Off

The third single from "The Emancipation of Mimi", this relaxing track charts at #63. It was never a favourite of mine, to be honest, and I discovered this song two years ago when I wasn't that huge a Mariah fan yet and my friend happened to mention this in front of myself and a teacher. It definitely isn't one of Mariah's best, but it definitely has an amazing video. All of her videos from the Mimi era is great, and this is one of the best.

62 ¬ One Sweet Day (featuring Boyz II Men)

This position may prove to be the first disappointment of this countdown. The longest-running number-one song on the Hot 100, charting at #1 for a massive total of sixteen weeks, this song fails to replicate its success on my own chart. It has sort of overgrown off me a bit as I used to think highly of this song and thought its success was deserved. It's good, not great, though this song has a deep and relatable meaning to it.

61 ¬ Reflections (Care Enough)

One of my initial favourites from "Glitter". This ballad is one of her best from the 2000s, and is so underrated by the fans IMO. Deserved much more as a single and it did not deserve to flop that badly as a single. One of the highlights of the Glitter era that is mediocre and badly handled, especially cause of the 9/11 attacks. I do think this is much better than the lead single, "Loverboy", though the latter has grown on me a little, that I would probably rank it top 75 now. Rest assured you "Loverboy" haters, none of the versions are charting on this countdown.

I Don't Wanna Cry: 5/10 - Definitely one of my least fave MC singles. Her vocals are good on this, as usual, but it's so boring.

Petals: 3.5/10 - One of the weaker tracks on Rainbow for me. Much like "I Don't Wanna Cry", this one is just too boring for my taste.

Everything Fades Away: 4/10 - Much like the first two in this batch, this is just too monotonous for me.

Hark! The Herald Angels Sing: 6/10 - Bar "All I Want For Christmas Is You" and "Oh Santa!", I'm not really a fan of MC's Christmas songs, but this one's decent.

If It's Over: 10/10 - MC's vocals on this track are probably the strongest they've ever been. This is unarguably my highlight from the incredible album that is Emotions. This was my #7. :(

Silent Night: 6.5/10 - A pretty good MC take on a Christmas classic though it pales in comparison to the legendary "All I Want For Christmas Is You".

Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town: 8/10 - Definitely my fave Christmas cover of this batch! It's so upbeat and catchy and fun. Irresistible really.

Shake It Off: 7.5/10 - It's a pretty catchy song and her recent live performances of it have been pretty swell.

One Sweet Day: 9/10 - Shocker! I know there are a number of lambs who find "One Sweet Day" overrated but I think the song's message makes such a connection to those who've lost a loved one. I've always found it interesting that of all of MC's 90's classics that this one managed to snag the "Song of the Decade" honour, which just goes to show how far-reaching of a song it was.

Reflections (Care Enough): 5/10 - Not mincing words, I think most lambs (bar a few like my buddy Matt) can agree that Glitter is her weakest album. This song isn't terrible though. It isn't good either.

Aww, sad to see that you don't really like the songs in this song much! I do think "One Sweet Day" is really vastly overrated though, especially by the fans. "Petals" is so underrated, like Tiger said, and is one of the standouts of "Rainbow" since I first heard the album. Hopefully the next batch will prove to be a much better one for you.

60 ¬ Auld Lang Syne (The New Year's Anthem)

"Auld Lang Syne (The New Year's Anthem)" is one of the standouts of MiMi's latest Christmas LP for me. It has such a joyful sound and is a great ending to the album. I do really enjoy playing this song even though it isn't Christmas though as it doesn't really have the lyrics of an ordinary Christmas tune. It's good, though not great.

59 ¬ Bye Bye

This was one of my favourite songs at a point last year. However, overplaying this song really killed its epicness for me. It now ranks in at #59, as opposed to being in my top 25 last year. "Bye Bye", though a great song, was a wrong second single choice IMO as it wasn't a great way to continue the era after the semi-successful "Touch My Body". A great "sequel" to "One Sweet Day", and contrary to the fans' belief, I feel that this is a much better song than that vastly overrated track.

58 ¬ Up Out My Face

This song contains one of my favourite Mariah Carey lyrics ever, especially the "if we were two lego blocks, even the Harvard University graduating class of 2010 couldn't put us back together again . Her songwriting skills are genius and it really shows in this fantastic track. Though not my favourite from "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel", I wouldn't rank it as one of the messes of that record either. The version featuring Nicki Minaj is utter rubbish though, and I prefer the original MUCH more.

57 ¬ Forever

"Forever" has always been a fan-favourite, so this ranking may be a little controversial to some. "Forever" is a great, calming and somewhat soulful tune. The reason why this song comes in at #57 is because it probably lacks the power other Mariah songs have, which is what made me a lamb in the first place. I do believe that with stronger vocals in this song, it would have been enough for me to rank it top 50, or possibly even top 20. It is a pleasant tune, though.

56 ¬ Touch My Body

"Touch My Body" is one of her best uptempos, and needless to mention, the video is definitely a standout of her videography. "Touch My Body" contains some amazing lyrics as well. It definitely isn't one of my favourite lead singles from Mariah, though it is indeed a good one. I don't get why fans hate this as it is such a fun tune.

55 ¬ I Still Believe

"I Still Believe" was Mariah's take on a Brenda K. Starr song, as a tribute to her. Mariah's take IMO outclasses the original by far and is a stunning recording of this song. However, it got overplayed by me, much like "Bye Bye", resulting in its low ranking. It also doesn't contain the "oomph" that other Mariah tracks do have as well, and that probably caused it a much lower ranking than I would have expected it to rank.

54 ¬ 100%

A rarely mentioned Mariah tune, this is a gorgeous track released to support Team USA in the Olympics. I do NOT get why this track was not included in "Memoirs..." as this track is easily one of the best things she'd done that era. It is definitely one of the standouts and I love this song because of its lyrics. It is very, very underrated as well, and I believe some fans may not even have heard this in full before. If you haven't, I suggest you give this a listen as you may be pleasantly surprised! :)

53 ¬ Fourth Of July

A very, very underrated track from "Butterfly", that constantly receives comparison to "Underneath The Stars". I do prefer the latter, though this isn't that bad either. I don't find this to be a replica of "Underneath The Stars" at all, as I don't seem to sense any similarities between the two. It does deserve much more recognition, though, and is a good addition to the "Butterfly" record, which is flawless besides one or two duds.

52 ¬ Joy To The World

Another Christmas tune from Mariah's first Christmas record. This is the second-highest ranking tune from that record, only outranked by one other. This is a great cover of this legendary Christmas classic and is by far my favourite version of it. Mariah's powerful vocals really make this song a stellar version and that, I guess, is what makes me like this song so much.

51 ¬ Do You Know Where You're Going To? (Theme From Mahogany)

"Do You Know Where You're Going To? (Theme From Mahogany)" is a good track from #1s , and is so, so underrated by the fans. Many fans seem to hate it as evidenced by the numerous Mariah survivors we had, where this song often gets voted out in the first few rounds. Though lacking some elements, this song is great nevertheless, and fans should re-listen to this and give it another chance.

Auld Lang Syne (The New Year's Anthem): 5.5/10 - I know a lot of lambs really like this one but I've never really gotten into it.

Bye Bye: 8.5/10 - This is actually one of my faves from it's parent album. It might not have made the best single but it's certainly a great song.

Up Out My Face: 8.5/10 - I love this track and that line you quoted is definitely a highlight! The Nicki Minaj remix certainly adds a little spice to the track.

Forever: 5.5/10 - Well, your ranking of this isn't too controversial as I ranked it lower on my own chart. It's definitely...pretty but it has no real "oomph".

Touch My Body: 8.5/10 - This was a superb lead single and a record-breaking #1 for MC so it'll definitely hold a special place in the hearts of all lambs. The music video's probably my all-time fave from Mariah because it's so funny.

I Still Believe: 8.5/10 - By error, I omitted this from my countdown but it's certainly a tremendous cover and I totally agree that it's superior to the original.

100%: 8/10 - This certainly tends to get overlooked by a lot of people, myself included, but it's a great song and I love MC's vocals on this one.

Fourth of July: 5/10 - I never really got into this one. It's definitely one of MC's more forgettable album tracks.

Joy To The World: 7.5/10 - This is probably one of my favourite traditional Christmas songs and MC's take on it is pretty great.

Do You Know Where You're Going To? (Theme From Mahogany): 4/10 - Pretty forgettable, in my opinion. The song has no real highlight.

According to your ratings, this batch has been much better than the previous ones? "I Still Believe" is indeed a great track, though I really overplayed it a lot in the past, killing its original epicness for me. Hope you find the next batch to be more of your liking as well.

50 ¬ Betcha Gon' Know (The Prologue)

The opening track from "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel", this is another example of lyrical perfection from Carey. The way she sings this song is like she is telling a story, and I love the lyrics to this. I used to find this a little bland, but now I really love it and it seems to be quite the fan-favourite from the aforementioned album.

49 ¬ My Saving Grace

Some fans find this a borefest, some fans find this an amazing track. I think I belong to the latter group of fans as I think this is easily one of the highlights off "Charmbracelet". "My Saving Grace" is one of her gospel songs that really is, to some extent, comparable to the epic "Fly Like A Bird". "My Saving Grace" is a great, under-appreciated and under-rated tune.

48 ¬ My All

This may be another controversial ranking as I know that many lambs adore this track and talk about how stellar this song is. However, this track just lacks something for me and I don't really regard this as one of my favourites from Mariah since my first listen to that song. This is, however, one of the first Mariah songs I got into contact with, though, so I will always remember this song for that reason.

47 ¬ Make It Happen

Many fans seem to rate this song highly. I used to, too, until I overplayed this empowering tune. This is a fabulous track from "Emotions", and is easily one of my favourites from that album. This is one of her best uptempos of the '90s, though, and is definitely one that makes the entire "Emotions" album not full of ballads, as well as making it more entertaining.

46 ¬ I Am Free

"I Am Free" is one of my favourite album tracks from Mariah, as evidenced by my voting in the MC Album Tracks survivor. This track is splendid, and whilst though not as amazing as the singles released off the parent album ("Daydream"), it still calms one down after listening to it. It is sort of a "freedom" anthem, though, as evidenced by the song title, but I'm not entirely sure if the song lyrics do bring out that part of the titl.

45 ¬ Never Too Far/Hero (Medley)

An extremely underrated, and to some extent, hated tune by the fans, this song is my favourite Mariah Carey "medley" ever. This was released as a bonus track off "Glitter". Released in 2001, this song was a commercial flop in the areas it was released in. An amazing tune that deserves more recognition from the fans. It was one of the contenders for my top 20 until it was removed from the shortlist after much deliberation on my side.

44 ¬ Underneath The Stars

"Underneath The Stars" is yet another fan favourite, and has been praised for its lyrics and soothing melody. I do agree that this song is beautiful, but it just lacks the strong vocals some other Mariah songs have. Much like "Forever", the lack of that element really causes the song to falter at such a low position. I do really like this, though not as much as the tracks above this.

43 ¬ Honey

Released as the lead single off "Butterfly", "Honey" is loved by fans and critics alike. Ranking it at #43 was a hard decision for me as I felt that I loved some songs lower more, but because this sort of brought out Mariah's new image and it was a risk for her to take, I had to rank it here. It would probably have been at around #60 if it wasn't for that reason. This is a good track with a GREAT music video, that is easily one of Carey's all-time best videos.

42 ¬ Against All Odds (Take A Look At Me Now)

I know JSparksFan really adores this song... I do too, but not as much as he does. It is an epic cover of the original and I'm proud to say I prefer Mariah's version to the original. The duet with Westlife is just horrible, though I'm grateful it brought about another #1 hit for Mariah in the UK. "Against All Odds (Take A Look At Me Now)" is one of the first Mariah songs I've discovered as it has been performed by a few contestants on reality singing competitions.

41 ¬ H.A.T.E.U.

"H.A.T.E.U." closes off this batch, coming in at #41. Released as the third single off "Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel", this is my third favourite track from that album. This track is a great ballad that is compared to "Angel's Cry" (also from the same album). Though I prefer the latter, this is still a great tune. The video is just a hot, hot mess, though, and it seemed to be a cheap video. Mariah just seemed disinterested in filming a video for this song. It deserved much more success, especially in US.

Yes, the last batch was certainly the best yet...as it should have been!

Betcha Gon' Know (The Prologue): 6.5/10 - I like MC's voice on this track but it's definitely very overrated amongst the lambs.

My Saving Grace: 7/10 - This song does seem to be underrated amongst the lambs. It's definitely one of the (very few) highlights from Charmbracelet.

My All: 9.5/10 - Lyrical perfection. The first verse is probably the most vulnerable I've ever heard MC sound and the entire song is just phenomenal. It's the best track on Butterfly, in my opinion.

Make It Happen: 8/10 - A year and a half ago, I'd have given this a higher rating but it's definitely lost some of its luster for me, as I, much like you did, overplayed the song.

I Am Free: 5.5/10 - Daydream has its fair share of sappy ballads that I'm not overly fond of and this is definitely one of those.

Never Too Far/Hero (Medley): 6.5/10 - This is actually a pretty good medley. I'd rate it higher if I liked "Never Too Far" more. :)

Underneath The Stars: 5/10 - It's funny but I actually like the reference MC make in "For The Record" more than "Underneath The Stars" itself. This is very overrated, in my opinion.

Honey: 7.5/10 - This has definitely grown on me since my controversial ranking of it in my Mariah tribute. Much like you said, it introduced a new, sexier image to the public so it'll forever be one of MC's most important singles. I love its summery sound.

Against All Odds (Take A Look At Me Now): 9.5/10 - I appreciate the shoutout even if I don't appreciate the ranking much. The best track on Rainbow, I think a lot of people tend to overlook this but the sheer emotion with which MC sings the song combined with those hair-raising vocals of hers just makes this song an instant classic in my books. I totally agree that the Westlife version is definitely a step down from the original but I agree that it was still great for Carey to have another UK #1.

H.A.T.E.U.: 7/10 - Much like you noted, the music video's pretty terrible. It would've been a much bigger hit had there been a bigger budget video and some live performances supporting it. It certainly gets a lot of hate from lambs but I adore it. Good ranking.

Best batch so far! :D

40 ¬ Migrate (featuring T- Pain)

A fan-favourite, this track was an initial favourite of mine when I first heard the album, but my love for it has died down a little. It is a great summer anthem, though, and definitely had much more single potential than the singles released from the album. "Migrate" has such hot lyrics and I believe this could have continued Mariah's streak of being at the pinnacle of charts after her success with "Touch My Body". This will always be remembered as one of the greatest gems in Mariah's discography that was a wasted single.

39 ¬ Angel's Cry

"Angel's Cry" is a stunning ballad. Contrary to what some fans may think of this tune, I think it is an excellent song and is testament to Mariah's superb ability at singing and composing ballads. This is undeniably one of the highlights from her latest studio record. "Angel's Cry" has some relatable lyrics, like "lightning don't strike, the same place twice". Both versions are great, though I prefer the original one to the remix version with Ne-Yo. It does have a good video, compared to the string of crap videos she released that era.

38 ¬ Can't Let Go

"Can't Let Go" may be the first shocker in this batch as I know many lambs think very highly of this track. It was one of my initial favourites of Carey when I hadn't discovered her discography in depth. This is actually an amazing song, but it just can't peak higher than #38 due to the numerous gems in Mariah's flawless and stellar discography. "Emotions" is actually my favourite single released from the "Emotions" era (bar the songs released from the MTV Unplugged session).

37 ¬ When I Saw You

"When I Saw You" is an underrated gem from "Daydream" and rarely gets recognition from the fans. This is the highest ranking album track from the aforementioned album. "When I Saw You" belongs to the better half of the album and has such a pleasant tune. I can relate to "When I Saw You" in so many different levels and I'm glad to see it get some love in the MC Album Tracks survivor where it placed at #4. Not a bad placing for an extremely underrated song.

36 ¬ Love Takes Time

We lose the first of two singles from her debut in this batch, "Love Takes Time". I have a love-hate relationship with "Love Takes Time" -- sometimes I adore the song, sometimes I find it plain boring. Regardless, though, it would definitely be a sure top 40 entry for me. It ranks in at #36 just because I got bored of it when I decided on the ranks, but I'm sure on the better days it would definitely make the top 30. That's not removing the fact that it's a great track, though -- it is, and is in my top three songs from her debut record.

35 ¬ Endless Love (featuring Luther Vandross)

"Endless Love" is beautiful. It is easily one of Mariah's best duets and Luther's voice just shines in this song. "Endless Love" is a gem and many fans don't seem to be embracing the epicness of this fabulous track. This may be a controversial/unpopular opinion, but I prefer this version to the original Lionel Richie/Diana Ross version. Mariah's voice in this song slays. Only one more duet features above this song on my countdown - and I guess that it is pretty obvious now.

34 ¬ Without You

"Without You" is one of Carey's signature covers, but I don't rate it as highly as some of her other classics. It's a great version, though and is the best version of the song for me. "Without You" is a song full of emotions and Mariah really manages to capture that part of the song perfectly. Her vocals in this song are also great. I will always remember this song because of Ken Lee. This was the song that introduced me to Mariah.

33 ¬ Don't Forget About Us

"Don't Forget About Us" was Carey's second number-one from the "The Emancipation of Mimi" era, following the blockbuster "We Belong Together". "Don't Forget About Us" was definitely a step-down from its predecessor ("We Belong Together"), and I don't get why many people (critics and fans alike) think that the two songs are similar. In my opinion, they are totally different and "We Belong Together" is a much better song. This isn't that bad as well and still does get spins from me regularly. It definitely is a better single compared to "Shake It Off" and "Say Somethin'", though "Fly Like A Bird" shits all over this. I understand why they released this over FLAB, though, as this track is undoubtedly a more commercial one.

32 ¬ Fantasy

"Fantasy" is the first of two lead singles to fall in this batch. "Fantasy" opened her "Daydream" era and was one of three number-ones for her that era (the other two being "Always Be My Baby" and "One Sweet Day"). This uptempo track is one of my least-favourite Mariah lead singles from the '90s. It has a good video. One thing about "Fantasy" is that it doesn't sound dated as compared to some other of her singles, and that probably gave it an advantage when I ranked it. On hindsight, I probably ranked this a little too high as I don't really like it as much now.

31 ¬ Vision of Love

"Vision of Love" may be the first big shock of the whole countdown thus far. Mariah's debut single, the one that brought her to prominence, is in my eyes one of the best debut singles ever. However, when compared to her other singles, it pales in comparison. "Vision of Love" gets a 10/10 from me as without this song, there would be no Mariah Carey. This is a superb tune, and is my favourite single from her self-titled debut album. This is, however, not my favourite track from that record, though. "Vision of Love" is, and will always be, one of Mariah's signature songs.

Thanks! "Never Too Far" is a GREAT song! Why don't you like it? "My All" is great, but it's far from being the best IMO as "Butterfly" has so many relatable tracks that it's not even funny. As you may already know, I love Mariah the best when she releases relatable tracks, and that's probably why I don't rate "My All" as highly as you do. Sad to see that you don't like "I Am Free" as much as I do. And I expected that reaction from you when I ranked "Against All Odds". For me, it just pales in comparison to Mariah's other classics. Mariah's discography is virtually flawless, though, so ranking in the 40s may not be that bad anyway. Other than that, glad to see that you like the batch of songs. Your comments are much appreciated.
