Beat It is an all-time classic, but I can see where it might rank lower than expected due to overplaying, much like Thriller.

Earth Song is one of Michael's most passionate performances and I think that really is what takes the song to a higher level

never listened to beat it much
as well as thriller
from the thriller albums my most listened songs
are human nature, billie jean and wanna be startin' somethin'
but i know it's a classic and on the most iconic song of 80's.
-earth song was my most played song last year, it was my fav song for a long time. i would easily place inside my top 5. it's just an iconic song. every time i listen i find new sounds...i love this song so much (although i over played it a little)
but still one of the most inspirational song of all time and an environment anthem.

I never listened to Beat It that much

Earth Song on the other hand is my ultimate MJ song. It took my love for his music on a whole another level and was actually the first MJ record I ever bought :D

12. Dirty Diana (1988)
Image
US: #1 / UK: #4

SHORT-FILM: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUi_S6YWjZw
SHORT-FILM (LIVE VERSION): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwBpB1Ok6JA

A very hard choice! 'Dirty Diana' is probably his best vocal performance of the 80s! It was in my Top 10 when I compiled this list, but I changed it recently. Still an ultimate favourite, though.

>> 'Dirty Diana" was the fifth consecutive no. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 off Bad.
11. On The Line (1997)
Image
Released as 'Limited Edition Minimax CD'
* PROMO SINGLE *

AUDIO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7Ol09rOnes

My 'pick-me-up' song! 'On The Line' has such a power to make me optimistic and happy!

This masterpiece is an outtake of HIStory sessions, later released as a promo single included in the Michael Jackson's Ghosts Deluxe Collector Box Set, and then as part of the The Ultimate Collection [long version].

>> Although its credited as theme song of 'Get on the Bus', OTL is not featured on the soundtrack.

Beat It is sooo catchy, great single!!
Earth Song is very raw and passionate as is the video, one of his best.
Dirty Diana is so underrated, great rock track from Michael. 8-)

Just listening to On The Line for the first time, do not think much of it tbh. :(

Dirty Diana was such a rare "dirty" sexual side of Michael, and it rocked too. Great track.

On The Line is alright, but not the biggest Babyface fan here.

"Beat It" was MJ at his prime and "Dirty Diana" is probably my all-time fave tune from the King of Pop so great two batches. :)

TOP 10!!!!

10. Give In To Me (1993)

My favourite 'hard rock' song of 90's! Although I love these bands, I think 'Give In To Me' slays any Nirvana, Guns n' Roses, etc., hit. It's simply a masterpiece!

The 7th single off Dangerous, GITM shows us a MJ playing rock at his prime, fiercer than ever! And it features a great guitar performance by Slash (former GNR), that proves he's as fantastic as MJ previous guests: Steve Stevens ('Dirty Diana') and Eddie Van Halen ('Beat It').

>> 'Give In To Me' was never performed live.

>> Despite it was not released in United States, its music video premiere happened during an Oprah Winfrey interview with Michael (Oprah's biggest audience ever: 90 million).

wow really great choice. it is my favorite mj rock song followed by dirty diana. give in to me is really an epic song is like a rock ballad (if that make sense)..and it's so aggressive ...i love it too. it'll make my top 10 too, nice choice
a few artists have sample this song like
- emimem on his song "Under the Influence"
-a hip hop rapper called Kery James on his song "Lettre à Mon Public"
-Tech N9ne's song "Last Sad Song"

Give In To Me has something unique about it. Lyrics are so fierce and even in your face in some lines that one might forget what Michael wants to tell with this song. The rhythm is beautiful and adds more mystery to the song imo

You won't be laughing when I'm not around

this always gets me :(

I always thought of "Give In To Me" as a weaker "Dirty Diana" rehash. It's still good though. :)
