Its boundaries seem to continually shift which I kinda like. I can not see how it can be or should be just boxed into genres. I want to see artists who cross over and experiment we need more innovation and creativity.
I'll second this post. If you ask most musicians, especially in the alternative area, they hate being pigeonholed. Heck, Adele, Outkast, Katy Perry, and M.I.A. have all charted on the US Alternative charts in recent years.

Sorry, but that one I can say a definite no on right from the start. We're not that kind of site. :)

 I don't mean it in that way. I meant a section where stuff such as the picture thread would be visible to members only.

I definitely agree we need a specialist forum for all of this genres.

When I have got a dong that's neither rock, pop, dance or urban, I put it there where it's the closest.
For example if it's more experimental or alternative/scene, I'd put it in rock, if it's more commercial, I'd put it in pop.

I also support a specialist forum!

^I don't wish to know where you put your dong!

Depends. I put Hans Zimmer in pop. But avant garde acts like Glass would go in Alternative. Looks stupid, though.

Has there been any further discussion about this? I think it's a brilliant idea!

I've set up a little thread for us supporters for the time being while we await a response on this. :D

But I mean, a thread is not of so much help considering World Music (Latino and KPOP) don't really get along with FILM Scores and Classical... but it's kinda sad we don't get a new forum

Well world music would belong in there as well, a clash of different styles are welcome to be discussed. I think J-Pop or K-pop has it's own thread anyway doesn't it? :D

Yes, I'm still hoping for a 'Members Only' section. Maybe only for members with over 1000 posts. It'd be a place where we could all be a bit more open (posting pictures, talking about personal life, etc).

Knew it wouldn't take long.

What's wrong with having a place to talk about all those other types of music, why is it pretentious to enjoy other music? :-? Just because you have no interest doesn't mean others haven't. ;)

if by that you mean, I have no interest in shouting out "I *has* a superior muzic taste!!!" then you're damn right! because oh if I had a penny for everytime (let's say "some posters" so not to cause more unnecessary drama) mention how they're taste is so much better than the regular ukmixers and the usual moan "oh why do I even bother to mention this artist in this forum :-?"

it really looks like a show sometimes when this clique talk about their taste..
yet they wouldn't dare to step out of ukmix and post somewhere where they only discuss "specialist" music, because there they wouldn't feel so special after all

 You have no idea what you are talking about, I refuse to listen to someone with that attitude. There simply is no where on the site for this music and I want there to be, explain to me what is wrong with this? I do not think my taste is superior to anyone's thank you very much. :-?

Why do people always get upset when someone mentions a specialist section? I just want somewhere to talk about psychedelic metal, Yoko's screaming and a bit of smooth jazz etc? :P

Not just you in particular ;) it just seems like a big drama when it's mentioned, oh well I don't mind either way. :P Well your observation seems a little flawed and ill informed to me. ;)

Damn shame really, still don't think there would be any harm in it. But I really am not bothered anymore, I'll just continue talking about my fave songs/artists/albums elsewhere on the forum. I would go elsewhere on the net but I don't like anywhere else like I do UKMIX. :D
