How important is money in your life and relationship?

Truth is, we cannot live off love and fresh air.
And everyone puts difference emphasis on different things!
But how important is money to you in your life, and your relationship with the special someone in your life?

I am extremely happy in my single life and as a person, I have lots of ambitions and dreams. With that said, I do need lots of money (for Travelling, shopping, etc)
I guess I could say I'm one of those people that want money...and use money...for the right reasons.

It's not to compete with others, it's not for flashing material things. I genuinely want money to live the life I dream of...and just because it's for myself and no other reason.

That's my preach of the day

I actually said recently that whoever said there is no correlation between money and happiness is wrong, and I still stand by that now. Being poor is shit. Love it or hate it, money makes the world go round, or to quote Lana del Rey - like I'd ever miss an opportunity like to do that - 'money is the reason we exist'. Without it you don't have independence.

I'm not saying you can't live on a budget or anything like that before anyone takes my words out of context, and I know that money can't buy you friends, but I've got plenty of those, so all I need now is a rich husband and I'm sorted for life.

Money is something i never get tired of

I'm from the middle-class so i'm not poor, fortunately, but money never seems to be enough! I really love luxury.

I think Money is really important... without money there is no health... no health, no life, no love, nothing is good... as much money as I can please! :) ... not that I want to marry a millionaire lol... BUT I'd say that I really need to get as much as I can to treat and pamper ourselves...

now THAT is at least as much of a bullshit as "there is no correlation between money and happiness".

if you think that way, you already are not independent, bcos you are depending on money too much. Im really sorry for you if you feel that way, but I hope one day you will realize it yourself that Lana del Rey was talking bullshit there and you will find the real purpose of your existence and realize that money cannot stand in the way of achieving your purpose.

as for me.. money is quite important to everybody, to me as well, its a fact. Im not exactly happy about this fact but whatever.
in my love life though, I really want to reduce the importance of money as much as I possibly can. there are a million other (much more pleasant and interesting 8-) ) things I want to be important in my love life, and money is not among them.
my life wont be about chasing money thats for sure. I dont enjoy spending money just for the sake of spending it anyway. I dont want to be poor and dont want to have to worry about money of course, but I wont be obsessed with luxury. I enjoy freedom and independence, and money is probably the last thing I would just simply let take that away from me. if I won the lottery though, I sure would know what to do with that money but thats another story already.

Money is definitely important but I think it's a case of, how much emphasis do you put on money to make you happy. I live and give life 110% everyday. I work hard and make personal sacrifices for money but I always remind myself that money can be gone tomorrow, and that I must enjoy it whenever it is around...but don't put emphasis on it making me happy.

I make myself happy. With nature. With friends. With family.

Money to me is not important, but my freedom is. Being able to go where I want when I want and do what I want, when I want.

Unfortunately it takes money to have freedom nowadays, and that takes the free out of freedom.

SO much self indulgent sh!t in here <3 what most of you suggest would fit a utopian world of calm and equality perfectly. But not this world - not even in the slightest.

Josh is the only one who's made any sense to my ears in this topic - you wanna see me smile, you show me the dollar 8-)

Sorry, but I have to totally disagree with you there Wayne. Not everyone is materialistic as you have stated you are, and if you're not materialistic then this isn't just a weird utopian society.

I agree that it's not nice to be so poor that you can't afford a comfortable standard of life, but that's about all I'd say.

[quote=marcsi]my life wont be about chasing money thats for sure. I dont enjoy spending money just for the sake of spending it anyway. I dont want to be poor and dont want to have to worry about money of course, but I wont be obsessed with luxury. This pretty much sums things up for me. I've been very lucky that I've never really had to worry about money - but that's probably as much down to not being much of a spender as having a decent income.

I'm not insinuating that if you're not materialistic, then society its weird - I'm insinuating that you can't get by on love & happiness, much as we might like to.

Money makes the world go round - if you don't worry about it, its because you earn enough, or have enough. Most people don't, and do worry about it - it is the centre of our existence.

Take the "sh!t" out.

Do you happen to have a hot female friend with the same frame of mind? :D

I am a banker so, of course I love money. There are few things more enjoyable than driving around town in a nice convertible car, sipping champagne in a nice club in Chelsea with some wannabe models or watching a football game from a corporate box.
But then, money does not matter and you can have a life just as fulfilling watching re-runs of Big Brother and listening to GaGa's album over and over again, naturally
