Battle Of The Era... LOOKING 4 MYSELF vs BELIEVE

Both great eras (which I unfortunately didn't fully experience at the time).

Dangerous
- good singles (some great, some not as great)
- good videos (particularly In The Closet, Remember The Time, Give In To Me)
- very good sales, but slightly underwhelming (particularly in the US)
- scandal because of the child molestation accusations - the era is almost overshadowed by this

janet.
- great singles, including some of her best
- good videos & choreography
- sexy new image
- cool world tour
- great sales (and it sold more than 'Dangerous' in the US)
- commercial peak

I'll have to go with janet. here.

Everything I said was true.

The 'janet.' era was Janet's commercial peak, whereas 'Dangerous' is seen as the beginning of Michael's downfall.

dangerous because it features some of my alltime faves and even though michael did go thru hell with the molestation accusations, he was still everywhere and the beginning of the era was still outstanding. he was still the one and true sole king of music.

As an ERA, I'd give janet. the edge for one reason, Dangerous' era was forever tarnished by the BS that went down near the end of it.

I have to go with the .janet era...

The Dangerous era was cut short. And he suffered commercially for all of the crap he went through...

Dangerous is easily the better album though.

"Dangerous" is the ultimate reason the genre, New Jack Swing, was created.

I love Dangerous but the "If" choreography > Dangerous era

The Janet. Era was just so iconic.

True, but it was fluffy. Michael took it to another level.

IMO Dangerous was more or less New Jack's last stand instead of the album that made it huge. That genre really peaked in popularity IMO around 1989-1990 with Bobby Brown, Bell Biv Devoe, Guy and others... after Dangerous, most male r&b went more smooth and ballady.

Era? I'd give it to Janet. She was just unstoppable then. That's The Way Love Goes still sh*ts.

I haven't listened to the Dangerous album but Janet. isn't my favorite from Janet.

Easily Dangerous

It's kinda pathetic to call Dangerous's sales "underwhelming" and Janet.'s "great". Dangerous sold more than 2 times as much as Janet..

I agree with both Ruthymon and NothingFails.

For lack of a better word, Janet's new jack swing in the '80s was fluffy for the most part. It didn't start getting legit until 1993...when it pretty much was over.

But I agree: Dangerous was both the encore and the magnum opus of new jack swing music...
