I don't see the problem, shade or hate.
She's one of today's most successful stars, is CREATING her brand and has all the qualities with which she could nurture younger artists, serve as executive producer and make some more money - all the while giving an unknown a chance.
Commercial: She is the queen of commercial music. She has built the most successful system for profit (between albums, singles, touring, era's movie)
Artistry: Haters will hate, but the girl is a songwriter, composer and musician - NOT just a singer.
Longevity: She's already made it through her first two mainstream eras, with her second being the bigger!
I don't see the problem. Her sublabel can BECOME her brand.
People used to say Jessica Simpson wasn't a brand (because of her cheesy songs and so-so commercial success), but $1 billion in profits and a $100 million net worth later, she is an entertainment BRAND though not a music icon.
Let Katy get in where she can!
"Take A Bow"... Rihanna's ONLY ballad to go #1 on the Hot 100 (also topped the R&B Chart)... Great deed for her most epic ballad!!!
