So, share some disappointing duets or collaborations in your opinion because you expected more for the duets or collaborations :D

Britney & Madonna - Me Against The Music, it was so hyped and it's still one of my least favorite singles from Britney, Madonna's part is so annoying, she should've not joined this collaboration

Beyonce & Lady Gaga - Video Phone, the song itself is bad imo, and the addition of Gaga for the remix version doesn't help much.
Telephone, my least favorite single from Gaga, and i really hate Beyonce's part, cos her vocal sounds so annoying

Alicia Keys & Beyonce - Put It In A love Song, 2 big stars and they ended up with something very cheesy, both singers vocal is so bad, they could've done miles better, no surprise the single release was cancelled

Beyonce & Shakira - Beuatiful Liar, although it's a quite good song, but i expect more from both actually, especially from Beyonce, maybe more high notes or something

Mariah Carey & Neyo - Angles Cry, i don't think Neyo adding something special for the original version, he's just... there

"Telephone" was brilliant. Beyonce's staccato is awesome. "Beautiful Liar" was kinda lame, though.

Beyoncé featuring Lady Gaga - Video Phone

It's not THAT bad, but seriously? They could have just done with "Telephone", but for the sake of it, had to do one more just because they had wanted to feature each other.

Rihanna featuring Jay-Z - Talk That Talk

I mean, seriously? This is like one of the most overhyped/overrated singles of Rihanna's career. This song sucks and "You Da One" (which is bad enough) is miles better than this collaboration.

Justin Bieber and Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You

Like "Video Phone", this isn't that bad but Mariah could have just let Justin do a solo of the song. In the duet, Justin's voice sounds so strained and forced to hit the original key that I think was caused by the presence of Mariah in the song. Had Mariah not been there, I believe the song would have been better.

Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj - Up Out My Face

"Up Out My Face" is one of my favourite songs of MOAIA, but the original album version is much better. I feel that Nicki's rap doesn't add anything special to the song - if anything, it just makes the song longer & annoying.

Beyoncé featuring Shakira - Beautiful Liar

This song is a mess. In my opinion, their voices don't even blend well and Beyoncé (a much better singer) seems somewhat restricted with the inclusion of Shakira.

Beyonce & Lady Gaga - Video Phone
This one is a mess, I agree. But for some reason, I love it! They should've remixed "Radio" instead of this one though.

Alicia Keys & Beyonce - Put It In A love Song
Actually this one isn't as bad as many people say, though yeah I agree why many people seem to hate it. 2 of the most powerful female vocalists came out with this song?

serbia95riri wrote:Mariah & Bieber - All I Want For Christmas Is You
*pretends that it never exists*

Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj - Up Out My Face
One of Nicki's worst verses ever. The video is cheap.

+

Usher & Beyonce - Love In This Club, Part II.
Although I kinda like this one, it's still lame. The verses are waaaaay too long, not to mention that Wayne makes the song even worse.

will.i.am & Jennifer Lopez - T.H.E.
It's not even a song wth are they thinking.

Brandy & Monica - ....
What is it called once again? I actually only remember the ....facebook... line from that song.

Brandy & Chris Brown - Put It Down
Actually Chris's rapping isn't as bad as usual but the whole song is just...

Justin Bieber & Nicki Minaj - Beauty and The Beat
I've always wanted JB & Minaj to collaborate, but not with this type of songs. I wanted an R&B banger with Nicki's Hip-Hop/Reggae touch on it, not a Dance/Pop mess like this.

Coldplay & Rihanna - Princess of China > good song, but I expected it to be a lot better

Timbaland, Pitbull & Guetta - Pass At Me > a total mess.

This has to be one of the worst songs I've ever heard. The chorus and JLo's verse are awful. The amount of dick puns ("hard like morning wood in the morning" = :o :o ) make the song even more cringe-worthy.

The music video is awesome, though! You just have to lower the volume to zero. :]

Eyy yo B! is an underwhelming collaboration. The Shakira one was underwhelming too. And so was the Gaga one.

Britney Spears feat. Madonna - Me Against The Music
Well...this was so disappointing...there was so much hype about it and at the end...the track was really generic and boring...

Beyoncè feat. Lady Gaga - Videophone
Just...horrible.

Madonna feat.Nicki Minaj - Give Me All Your Luvin'
The worst Madonna song ever! Nicki's rap makes the song even worse than what it was originally.

"Video Phone" is a horrible song, with an equally horrible video, but "Telephone" was a big improvement.

I also agree that "Me Against The Music" could've been better. A duet with Madonna shouldn't have ended up as one of her least memorable singles.

"Put In A Love Song" was such a disappointment, and really not in keeping with the standard of the rest of the material on Alicia's album.

"Beautiful Liar" was quite good in my opinion.

"Walk This Way" Girls Aloud & Sugababes. The UK's two biggest girl groups of this century combining should've created something better than this average cover version.

Justin Bieber & Mariah Carey - "All I Want For Christmas Is You"
Typical copy-paste remix. It'd be so much better if they did something different to the song. I never expected it to sound good when I heard the news of them collaborating anyway.

Alicia Keys & Beyonce - "Put It In A Love Song"
Not a bad song, but I expected more from two of the most influential R&B vocalists of the past decade. Also, I think it's one of the most forgettable songs from The Element of Freedom.

Justin Timberlake & Beyonce - "Until The End Of Time"
IMO, Justin's solo version was already perfect. Bey's addition was unnecessary, though another collaboration of the two of them would be interesting.

Mariah Carey & John Legend - "When Christmas Comes"
Same reason with the JT and Bey duet. They definitely have musical chemistry as proven by their performance of "With You I'm Born Again", but I feel that Mariah completely overshadows John in this song. Unlike the duet with Bieber, I had high expectations on this collaboration but it came out to be such a disappointment.

Lifehouse & Daughtry - "Had Enough"
The song is incredibly boring IMO. I didn't really think that a collaboration between these two bands would work out, and apparently, I was right.

Beyonce & Lady GaGa - "Video Phone"
I'm not really a fan of the song when it first came out as an album track, but GaGa didn't really make it better.

Justin Bieber & Mariah Carey - "All I Want for Christmas Is You"
The worst collaboration ever, and the music video was a complete joke.

Maroon 5 & Rihanna - "IF I Never See Your Face Again"
Their voices don't blend well together and the song is very forgettable.

Britney Spears & Pharrell - "Boys" (Co-Ed Remix)
Pharrell's verse is so weak, it's like he just wanted to be in the song because it's going to make him even more famous. The production is great but it could've been better if it was a Britney solo.

Nelly & Christina Aguilera - "Tilt Ya Head Back"
Very underwhelming single from two artists that had amazing tracks at that time.

If I Never See Your Face Again is one of my favourite songs of the last decade! The song is absolutely fantastic.

In terms of bad collaborations, I always felt that Whitney and Mariah's When You Believe falls well short of expectations. But perhaps my ultimate disappointment...

Barbara Streisand and Donna Summer - No More Tears [Enough Is Enough]

Absolutely, disappointing. Barbara's vocal was all over the place, and poor Donna wasn't given enough solo time - really, this should go down as one of the greatest collaborations of all-time, by two superstar, legendary divas. But it really doesn't live up to its expectation :(

Nooo, When You Believe is one of the best duets ever existed imo, no forced vocal, no competitive high notes, just a pure duet between 2 friends, probably it's just because people gave too high expectation for both singers to hit more high and powerful notes :(

For Mariah & Bieber duet, I never had big expectation, it was just for fun, so it wasn't really a disappointment for me.

Up Out My face is fire, love that one! The remix version with Nicki is really miles better.

- VideoPhone - GaGa / Beyonce
- Telephone - GaGa / Beyonce
- Tilt Ya Head Back - Christina Aguilera & Nelly: I don't remember how it goes :P! LOL
- MAriah Carey and Whitney Houston for the Prince of Persia
- If I Never See Your Face again - Maroon 5 and Rihanna
- Moves Like JAgger - Christina and Maroon: I find this one disappointing because Christina only features in like 20 seconds in the entire song, so random and not enough for my ears :P
- Dance Again - Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull: He's so unnecessary, and horrible here! We don't need him no more

I quite liked Put It In A Love Song.

But yeah Video Phone and Beautiful Lair are absolutely dire. Possibly the most disappointing collaborations in recent years. Beyoncé, GaGa and Shakira have done so much better stuff than this.

Oh I love Beautiful Liar.

Even though Shakira is amongst the worst singers of all-time, I can actually tolerate her on this track.

Agreed with those who mentioned "Video Phone", "All I Want For Christmas Is You" (f. Justin Bieber), "If I Never See Your Face Again". I remember reading about "If I Never See Your Face Again" in particular that it was Janet the one originally supposed to feature, instead of Rihanna. I wonder if the song would've been any better with her.

Completely agree. It was just a bland song.

And since we're on the subject of divas, I'd like to add Barbra Streisand and Céline Dion's duet on "Tell Him". I always thought it was just a HORRIBLE song with outstanding vocals. In fact, I just listened to it before posting this and it's just as bad as I remembered. The chorus alone:

Tell him
Tell him that the sun and moon rise in his eyes

Whisper tender words so soft and sweet
I'll hold him close to feel his heart beat
Love will be the gift you give yourself

WTF was that s**t!

I like this song, but now you've mentioned it I've always thought that Beyonce's vocals were restricted on the song. But the music video totally makes up for everything IMO.

I think the problem with Put It In A Love Song is that the expectations were so high as Beyonce and Alicia are tow of the biggest R&B artists and even though the song is actually okay it doesn't reach the expectations set out for it. I wish they would collaborate again though, maybe a ballad next time.
