NO DOUBT'S CAREER ALBUM SALES
No Doubt has its first album in a decade, "Push and Shove," due Sept. 25. Could you please run down the sales of the group's earlier sets?
Los Angeles, California
As previously reported, "Settle Down," the first single from "Push" bounds onto Digital Songs at No. 13, Rock Songs and Alternative Songs at No. 22, Adult Pop Songs at No. 23, the Hot 100 at No. 34 and Pop Songs at No. 35. The song's mix of No Doubt's core ska sound and a booming melodic chorus required for today's top 40 radio bodes well for its future chart fortunes.
While waiting for the new album, here's a look at the U.S. sales of No Doubt's three prior sets to have reached the Billboard 200, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
8,167,000, "Tragic Kingdom," 1996 (No. 1 for nine weeks)
1,587,000, "Return of Saturn," 2000 (No. 2)
2,842,000, "Rock Steady," 2001 (No. 9)
Additionally, 2003's best-of "The Singles 1992-2003" has sold 2,474,000 copies and reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200.
Dating to the advent of SoundScan electronic tracking data in 1991, No Doubt has sold 15.7 million albums.
