La Roux facebook

First of all, PLEASE recommend me a better word, shading is the only one that came to my mind

So, La Roux posted THIS on her facebook and it all begins there. Personally, I can NOT stand any comparison of this kind. I mean, music evolved and some may like it, other not. Ugh.

Where's the shade? If she's talking about the (stupid) comparison between RTW and Bohemian Rhapsody, then I have to say that she's really dumb. RTW has way more lyrics than "Who run the world? Girls." Why doesn't she compare BH to one of her songs? Doesn't half of 'Bulletproof' is she singing "This time baby I'll be bulletproof." She's just shaded herself.
Beyonce is one of the best performers and singers on the planet but this is a shining example of where things could be better
Well, at least she isn't THAT stupid...
to the infinity and Beyoncé.

Ed drewett did the same thing and rightly so got a lot of hate by it.

I am sick of these 'credible artists' musical snobbery. The 'picture uses a chorus of Beyonce who obviously has to include a lot of writers and producers as it was based off a sample of another song.

But as always when these musical snobs show up, they back track in a second. As Laroux and Ed both have done...

I understand where she's coming from.

I'm not too familiar with La Roux. Is she some sort of lyrical genius?

Wow, what a total troll she is. She tries to backpeddle and say it's nothing against Beyoncé so why didn't she say her point in another way without throwing Beyoncé under a bus?

She likes Beyonce and I understand what she means. Music isnt what it was.

Every artist wants a hit, so they putting groups of people together to write a song and a bunch of producers put some tunes on a song. It isnt only Beyonce, its the whole pop music category.
I love Britney, Beyonce, Riri and the others.

La Roux wasnt offending Beyonce.

Oh, god, I hate comparisons like this. You could just as easily turn this around by using the chorus of a Queen song and the verses of a Beyonce song like this:

Queen - Radio Ga Ga
All we hear is radio ga ga
Radio goo goo
Radio ga ga
All we hear is radio ga ga
Radio goo goo
Radio ga ga
All we hear is radio ga ga
Radio blah blah
Radio what's new ?
Someone still loves you

Radio ga ga (ga ga)
Radio ga ga (ga ga)
Radio ga ga (ga ga)

Beyoncé - Halo
Remember those walls I built
Well, baby they're tumbling down
And they didn't even put up a fight
They didn't even make up a sound

I found a way to let you in
But I never really had a doubt
Standing in the light of your halo
I got my angel now

It's like I've been awakened
Every rule I had you breakin'
It's the risk that I'm takin'
I ain't never gonna shut you out

Everywhere I'm looking now
I'm surrounded by your embrace
Baby I can see your halo
You know you're my saving grace

You're everything I need and more
It's written all over your face
Baby I can feel your halo
Pray it won't fade away

------

It's so easy to say stuff like that by just manipulating the point of view. Obviously RTW has a lot more lyrics than just "Who Run the World? Girls!", and comparing only the chorus of that song to the lyrical masterpiece that is Bohemian Rhapsody is just plain stupid!

Not all choruses Queen used have been so amazing, which is why I used Radio Ga Ga as an example, because pretty much this could have been written by a six year old (the chorus, not the rest of the song, obviously).

These kinds of posts annoy the **** out of me (just like the comparison of Stairway to Heaven versus Like A G6 as to show how music today sucks - because FEM is obviously the best rep when it comes to lyrics that make sense)

I like La Roux but she needs to take a several seats, because she herself is a pop singer, not an alternative bitch and she too has catchy choruses with little lyrics

This time baby,
I'll be, bulletproof
This time baby,
I'll be, bulletproof [repeat 2x]

This time...I'll be...bulletproof [repeat 2x]

This time baby,
I'll be, bulletproof
This time baby,
I'll be, bulletproof [repeat 2x]

She has a point but why pin her most basic song up against one of Queen's best? And it's not like 6 people wrote that one chorus. I don't think her comparison is fair at all.

the whole 'looking down' on pop music is dumb imo, and this is just an example of how quick she thought she was being quirky/cool but her quiff wig got dragged all over Facebook, probably Twitter and Tumblr too..

EDIT: oh wow, the dragging reached wikipedia this quick..
