Hi Everyone, welcome to the PJ Harvey - Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea Survivor.

This is my first survivor so i'm really excited but a little bit nervous

My interpretation of the album is that PJ goes to New York and falls in love with someone and with the city. But then things begin to change. I think she breaks up with her lover and returns to England by the 'sea'. How do you view it?

I know!! She is very underrated on this sight which surprises me. A lot of 'alternative females' like Björk, Tori Amos, Kate Bush, Fiona Apple, Regina Spector etc. have strong followings. Maybe PJ is just too hardcore for them :lol:

Maybe!

She is much more gritty and rocking than those others but she isn't really like them, she has a different sound and is so diverse.

I've been trying to take her album listening slowly so I can really appreciate her music. I remember when I got into Björk and I bought all her albums in 3 months, which was much too fast as I couldn't really appreciate every album without then listening to the next one. So I've been buying PJs albums every 4 months or so :wink:
