Hi Everyone, welcome to the PJ Harvey - Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea Survivor.
This is my first survivor so i'm really excited but a little bit nervous
Round 1 starts later on
Wow yes the album is like a road trip along a long desert road.Lemo wrote:Doing this album survivor is really exciting because I see the album as a story, and I'm theming each round to coincide with that story
My interpretation of the album is that PJ goes to New York and falls in love with someone and with the city. But then things begin to change. I think she breaks up with her lover and returns to England by the 'sea'. How do you view it?crazycrazy wrote:Wow yes the album is like a road trip along a long desert road.Lemo wrote:Doing this album survivor is really exciting because I see the album as a story, and I'm theming each round to coincide with that story
Well it congers so many images, some songs make me think of her travelling with her car top down through the desert as a lone free ranger and some make me think of the city life. I love it! My fave PJ album is "Rid of Me" have you heard that one?Lemo wrote:My interpretation of the album is that PJ goes to New York and falls in love with someone and with the city. I know!! She is very underrated on this sight which surprises me. A lot of 'alternative females' like Björk, Tori Amos, Kate Bush, Fiona Apple, Regina Spector etc. have strong followings. Maybe PJ is just too hardcore for themcrazycrazy wrote:Oh I love that one as well! Great to have another PJ fan here!Lemo wrote:Yes. Anyway, I'm going to close round 1 tomorrow
Not in full no, but have heard about 5 in full and parts of others.Lemo wrote:^^yeah she does. Have you heard all of her albums. I'm yet to hear Is This Desire? and White Chalk.
I've been trying to take her album listening slowly so I can really appreciate her music. I remember when I got into Björk and I bought all her albums in 3 months, which was much too fast as I couldn't really appreciate every album without then listening to the next one. So I've been buying PJs albums every 4 months or socrazycrazy wrote:Not in full no, but have heard about 5 in full and parts of others.Lemo wrote:^^yeah she does. Have you heard all of her albums.
