How do you handle criticism? Are you a critical person?

I was just thinking, I've become quite good with criticism since I started my most recent job :D Because every mistake that is possible can be traced through an audit trail, there's little chance not to eat humble pie! But still, a couple years ago, I would've been extremely defensive.

As for being critical, I am a very critical manager. But I'm also a constructive critic, I think. In real life, I'm fairly easy going :D

Generally, I'm critical person but usually don't voice them out loud unless I know the person I'm directing to won't be offended, also I accept criticism as long as the person don't say them out of jealousy or hate or just to feel superior to you, I wouldn't accept that even if they were 100% true TBH, but if they were coming out of love and care and just pure intentions then it's totally fine.

Yeah, this pretty much sums me up too.

to be perfectly honest, it usually depends on my mood how I handle criticism. like most of my actions.

I came back home, sat down to eat my bloody dinner. The moment I started eating, my father went on an endless rant: "You do nothing. You could do this, this way. Instead you do that, that way." And so on and so forth.

All these so randomly while trying to have my fuking dinner.

I said: "Yeah right. Bon apetite" and just moved to my room to eat in peace.
I'm so not wrong in doing so and this incident just reinforces my attitide that yeah, criticism is necessary and welcome but in lots of cases the "neaux1currr" attitude is damn right.

I am a critic, I like to voice my opinion no matter what in a respectful way, I also like to accept it in the same way because simply it allows you to improve.

I don't react to destructive criticism, and if I had to I usually use the "don't reply right away" technique, it's good for your well-being.

i cannot deal with criticism.. i might very well start crying and yelling "i'm not" or "It isn't so".. and then I will throw myself to the floor hurling like a 12 year old bieber fan when she found out the bieber doll is sold out...

I really can't take criticism well, it's probably my biggest fault. I always get too defensive, sometimes even when I know I am in the wrong!

in fact, I think I see myself pretty realistically and I am very well aware of many of my flaws and bad habits. Im just not very interested in changing them, I dont know, I lack motivation maybe. I know so many things that I could do better, maybe even my life would be easier... but I either lack motivation or Im stubborn.

only when I meet and talk to ppl who are so motivated and willing to improve something about themselves every day and become a bit better person every day, then I realize how pathetic I am compared to them  I like being around such ppl and look up to them, but on the other hand, Im in constant fear of disappointing them, so at the same time I dont always like being around them lol

Most of the times I accept criticism really well and, usually, I ask for it. When it's in something I want to be great in, I take it all in and appreciate it.

The few times I'm not sure of the other person's intentions I try to accept it but sometimes I feel quite defensive.

Overall, I love people criticizing me because I do believe it will make me a better person.

I'm a pretty critical person myself but usually keep it to myself unless I think it's tremendously constructive criticism.

I handle criticism well because through it, you can become better and improve. But of course you can easily identify those who are just jealous and mad at you for stealing their thunder.

See the Mariah Carey - Triumphant thread for how not to handle criticism.

That is true, claiming personal opinions as facts is certainly a part of not being able of a discussion.
