Errrr - I really don't know - they're all obvious ones!

Went for the Subways, though MCR and Fightstar also seem painfully obvious.

My Chemical Romance, cos it's painfully blindingly obvious...& I know it's been a fave of yours for ages...

Out of the list that didn't make it, a yay for:

101) Amerie – One Thing (9)
106) Jem – They (6)
118) KT Tunstall – Suddenly I See (15) (major WOO for that one)

Okay, thanks for the guesses people. Let's start the proceedings.

Position | Artist | Song | Highest Chart Position

100) James Blunt – You’re Beautiful (9)
One of the biggest singles of the year on the UK Chart crashes in at #100, being his only entry on my chart. It's a good song, but there are obviously betters this year.

99) Embrace – Glorious Day (2)
Embrace have had a great year, with Looking As You Are being #1 for several weeks in early 2005 and this following it up at #2, and remained top 10 for a while. It's a decent enough song, but there are far better on the album.

98) Ladytron – Destroy Everything You Touch (6)
Ladytron's one and only entry on my chart this year was this - the electro-indie goodness of Destroy Everything You Touch. It hit #6 back in September, yet only lasted three weeks. Thinking back, it was a good song.

97) Gorillaz – Dare (8)
This was Gorillaz first #1 on the UK chart, and it did well for a Gorillaz song on my chart too - #8 is the highest they've been, as Feel Good Inc reached the dizzy heights of #22.

96) My Chemical Romance – The Ghost Of You (5)
My Chemical Romance had two #1s this year, but this was a bit of a disaster, and crashed in a #5, and lasted 4 weeks. Don't worry though, as Helena and I'm Not Okay are much further up.

95) Jamie Cullum – Get Your Way (4)
Another big hit as of recently. This debuted at #10, taking three weeks to climb to its peak of #4, and taking another seven weeks to disappear.

94) The Killers – Smile Like You Mean It (15)
Looking back, I should have charted this higher. It's by no means a bad song, and deserved higher than #15 on my chart, but at the time I hated it, and as a result was only on the chart for a week.

93) Charlotte Hatherley – Bastardo (10)
One of the catchiest songs of the year. It had a huge critical acclaim, yet I don't think it made the top 40 on the official chart. Not to worry however, as it was a decent hit on my chart! icon_lol.gif

92) Bowling For Soup – Almost (9)
One of the cheekiest songs of the year was this. It only took them a year to release it, but after the wait I was a bit sick of it.

91) 3rd Dan – Fall From Grace (5)
Another more recent hit, and nobody has really heard it, but I think it's a great peice of emo disguised and indie with a Coldplay kind of sound. Okay it sounds like a disaster but it is pretty ace.

More tomorrow.

Well at least "You're Beautiful" did actually MAKE your top 100 icon_biggrin.gif

Embrace and Gorillaz are the other two great ones there for me.

Damnit for Anastacia missing the top 100, but there we go! Woop for Jamie Cullum making it!

90) Goldfrapp – Number One (5)
One of Goldfrapp's finer moments in my eyes was the more sultry recent hit "Number One" - it manages #5 on my chart last month, but dropped like a very light stone.

89) Lucie Silvas – The Game Is Won (5)
Not an artist I'm a HUGE fan of, but her singles have been decent, and this is one of my favourites, reaching #5 back in April.

88) Ryan Cabrera – On The Way Down (2)
On The Way Down wasn't actually released in the UK but I like Ryan so much I put him on my chart anyway. This got #2 at the start of the year, and I always meant to put True on somewhere but I forgot.

87) Inme – So You Know (6)
Seven Weeks was a huge #1 on my chart, so granted that's coming up later on, but thier second single of the year was the more downtempo So You Know. It reached #6, which isn't that bad, but when you consider Electric by Lisa Scott Lee beat it, it kind of wares off a bit...

86) Daniel Powter – Bad Day (2)
Yep, the song that just won't go away crashes in at #86 on my chart. I still love it, but it's greatness has kind of worn off a little now, as it's still top 30 after about a million weeks on the UK chart. It lasted a respectable 8 weeks on my chart.

85) Jamie Cullum – Mind Trick (6)
This is the last we see of Jamie on my singles chart - Mind Trick, his latest single ends up at #85, and he's a new entry on my chart this week at #6. Not that bad for a jazz singer.

84) Athlete – Half Light (3)
One of my favourite bands are Athlete, and this is the second single from them on the chart, after Tourist ended up at #120. We still have another two songs from them, but will either make the top 10?

83) Weezer – Beverly Hills (2)
Kept off the #1 spot by Rooster back in May, this was a decently sized comeback for Weezer, after this was a big hit, and the follow up We Are All On Drugs also did well. Looking back, it never should have done so well, but it is a good, catchy song.

82) Idiot Pilot – To Buy A Gun (5)
More obscurities now, this time from Idiot Pilot. I don't know why I like it so much, but it hit #5 in September on a very busy week, and it stayed on the chart for a long enough time.

81) Willy Mason – Oxygen (6)
This was a huge hit earlier in the year, yet it only reached #6 on my chart. I still love it to this day, and it should have done a lot lot better - it's a gorgeous song, but unfortunatley none of his other singles have matched it's success - So Long had a brief stay in the chart though.

Thanks for the response icon_biggrin.gif

80) Kristian Leontiou – Fast Car (4)
Released back in April, along with a rerelease of Some Day Soon, Kristian was one of my favourite artists of 2004, and that carried on through 2005. This was a decent hit earlier this year, but since we haven't heard anything at all for the rest of the year, I fear we won't get another album from him.

79) Maximo Park – Graffiti (5)
This was Maximo Park's first entry on my chart - entering at #5. Unfortunatley, thier most recent hit Apply Some Pressure missed the top 100, but here's a FACT - all of Maximo Park's singles have entered at #5 on my chart, the only one to get higher was Going Missing, which is still to come.

78) Amerie – Touch (5)
One of the only urban singles on the chart is this - Amerie's hit from the summer Touch. One Thing was a bit of a mess, entering at #19, sliding out and then re-entering - however Touch entered at #5 and slipped from there.

77) The Kooks – Sofa Song (3)
One of the best new bands of the year, The Kooks only entry on my chart is at 77. Eddie's Gun managed to go straight over my head, however if released now It'd be massive on my chart - so they'll have to do with the #3 hit Sofa Song.

76) Sugababes – Push The Button (2)
Sugababes are a great pop act, and thier only entry on my chart is thier biggest hit, Push The Button. Enterting at #2 back in September, the song is still on the chart now, after 10 weeks, which is great for a pop act on my chart.

75) Pussycat Dolls – Doncha? (4)
"Don'cha wish your girlfriend was hot like me?"
Speaks for itself really. An amazingly catchy song, and the summer's signature pop song. Expect Stickwitu to be on the chart next year.

74) Futureheads – Hounds Of Love (17)
One of the catchiest songs of the year is this, Hounds Of Love. The first of three songs from the Futureheads on my chart - expect Area pretty soon, and Decent Days And Nights later on in the charts, but this was recently named NME's Track Of The Year, and it's not hard to see why.

73) The Faders – Jump (2)
I loved this song as it came out - yet four weeks into it, I was bored to tears. It's still a decent song, but it just doesn't sound as good as it did back in July. No Sleep Tonight however, is still to come.

72) The Bravery – Unconditional (3)
They're one of my favourite bands of the year - producing a brilliant album, two amazing gigs, and just general being ace in every way, except for thier singles. None of them really grabbed my attention, and I didn't get thier album until I was going to see them with a friend - but it was an amazing choice, and they've turned out three entries on my chart, the most recent single Unconditional being the first, at #72.

71) Gwen Stefani – Hollaback Girl (4)
...and rounding off this installment is the lady of the year, Gwen Stefani. She also has three entries on the chart, and this is the first - Hollaback Girl took over the radio and TV in the early summer, with everyone singing it, and it was a big hit on my chart, but now the novelty has worn off, it ends up at #71.

70) The Used – I Caught Fire (6)
The second The Used song on the chart, but the only one in the top 100 - despite entering lower than All That I've Got, this was the bigger hit, being released on a much busier week, a month ago.

69) Franz Ferdinand – Do You Want To (2)
This was due to be huge back in August, but as it got played more, I got more fed up of it, and it bounded in at #2, and slipped right out.

68) Fightstar – Grand Unification (Part 1) (4)
Fightstar had two huge singles this year, and this is the first of them. After thier debut EP totally flopped on my chart, not even making top 40, I wasn't expecting much from them, but after Paint Your Target was huge, and is still to come on my chart (could it even be #1?), this wasn't quite as big, but it managed #4, and it still on the chart now.

67) Black Eyed Peas – My Humps (9)
I always have like Black Eyed Peas (mostly down to Fergie) but I seemed to have totally forgotten about Don't Lie and Don't Phunk With My Heart, so er... sorry but they didn't make my chart. I did like them though. But this song just makes me smile. The new phrase "Lady lumps" and the line "They say I'm really sexy, the boys they wanna sex me" always crack me up, and it's just a light hearted, fun song.

66) Maximo Park – Going Missing (2)
This is the highest the Park get, and this was a big hit in summer. It entered at #5, and spent 4 weeks on the chart before it reached #2, and spent 7 weeks on in total. Needless to say, thier album is amazing, and one of the finest thing Newcastle (not Sunderland icon_razz.gif ) has produced in a long time.

65) Paddingtons – Sorry (8)
Pete Doherty's friends the Paddingtons have this lone entry, but what an entry it is. I've seen them twice this year, and both times support acts, and are my tip for 2006 - this song is a prime example of what they're capable of, it's catchy, it's messy, but it's pretty good.

64) Magic Numbers – Forever Lost (9)
One of the surprise success stories of the year, was this inter-family bonding session - two sets of brother's and sisters combining to make a summery, feel good, hippy style super group... just without the good songs. This was the only song I liked by them, and after getting thier album on the basis, was hugely disappointing - I expected lots of happy, feel good songs, but I only heard boring, downtempo ballads. icon_frown.gif Better luck next time.
All that without a fat joke, too. Take note Richard Bacon.

63) The Bravery – Fearless (3)
One of the best new things of the year, The Bravery built on the Killers new found electro success, and came up with a totally amazing album, and from that was this - Fearless. None of thier singles have ever got higher than #3, which, given if Honest Mistake was released now, would be totally different. Anyway, the second of three, and yes, Honest Mistake is still to come.

62) Kelly Clarkson – Behind These Hazel Eyes (3)
I did love this song before it came out, yet when it got to being released I was bored to tears of it. Needless to say, it limped in at #3, stayed there for two weeks, and dropped straight out. It makes me laugh now actually. What a chart run. 3 - 3 - OUT.
Anyway. I do like it... because it's #62 on my chart. Well done. She does have two more songs to come.

71) Nine Black Alps – Just Friends (3)
...and the first of TWO entries for Nine Black Alps this year. I was a bit late on the uptake with them, as Shot Down, and Not Everyone managed to go right over my head, but Unsatisfied made me realised they're not to be ignored, and they ended up providing me with one of the best gigs I've seen of the year, and one of the best albums too.
Taking of, I'll be revealing my top 10 albums before the top 20.

60) Anastacia – Heavy On My Heart (1)
Another of my #1s - I thought it was a bit of a dodgy choice, until I saw it live, which was astounding. Unfortunatley it was only #1 for a week, because Jerk It Out came along and knocked it off.

59) Green Day – Jesus Of Suburbia (9)
Yes, this nine minute epic crashes in at #59 - the one and only Green Day song on my chart. As a gerneal rule, I dislike Green Day, but this song is very good, and a risk for thier career, which definetly worked in my opinion.

58) We Are Scientists – The Great Escape (3)
One of the best new bands of the year, who provided a great debut album, and two amazing singles, both on my chart. Thier most recent is the first one up, The Great Escape was an amazingly catchy record, and I can't even explain why I like it so much, I just do! Nobody Move, Nobody Gets Hurt is still to come, and I have a feeling it will be a lot higher.

57) Nine Black Alps – Unsatisfied (3)
The final entry for the Alps, that are black, of which there are Nine, is Unsatisfied. Released back in the summer, it was a bit of an anthem for me, and was the song that made me like them. It's a bit different from anything else they've done. I don't want to say slower, because yes it is, but it's not a ballad. I haven't got a clue what I'm taling about, so I'll shut up.

56) The Subways – With You (2)
The first (yes FIRST) entry from The Subways, the first of four, the most entries in the top 100, is this - thier third single, and weakest in my opinion, With You. Oh Yeah, Rock & Roll Queen and No Goodbyes are still to come, but in which order? This song was the opener of thier gig back in October, which was the best of the year for me, and yes, they are the best new band, and one of the best overall of the whole year.

55) Athlete – Twenty Four Hours (5)
Athlete's third song on the chart is thier recent single Twenty Four Hours. Another slower effort from them, and was always one of my favourites on "Tourist" but I never expected it to be a single, and when it was, it was a pleasant surprise. It hasn't been a huge hit on my chart, but it was fairly big, going in at #5 a few weeks back.

54) The Rakes – 22 Grand Job (2)
...another fairly recent hit, this time from the Rakes. Thier second single of the year, but the only one on the chart, is this catchy piece of quirky indie, backed whole heartedly by NME, not to mention it's hilarious video, the Call On Me of the office workers. Totally genius,

53) Kasabian – Cut Off (1)
The first number 1 of the whole year was this - an electro - indie offering about a monkey scientist. It's a great idea in theory, but could only manage #53 of the year. I haven't heard it for ages actually.

52) The Subways – No Goodbyes (2)
Jesus christ they're dropping like flies. The second entry from The Subways is thier most recent, the more sensitive offering, No Goodbyes. The perfect winter single, I remember walking to school in the snow and this was on my MP3 Player. It was rather nostalgic really.

51) The Caesars – Jerk It Out (1)
...and marking the half way point is this - the feel good hit of the summer, not to mention quite novel, as it's about "bodily fluids" if you pay attention, made #1 back in May. It's quite ace really, and reminds me of ice cream! icon_biggrin.gif
this town was meant for passing through but it ain't nothing new
