Yeah, I know what you're saying - OH GOD! But anyway, for those interested in pre-selections , such finals will start this weekend - with Albania!
I'll keep you updated with dates & stuff as usual. Let's hope this turns out to be one of the best shows ever all from George-land!
The dates for the 2006 contest are: Thursday 18th May for the semi-final and Saturday 20th May for the final, with the UK being automatically qualified for the final - obviously.

Serbia & Montenegro - March 11th
Ukraine - March 11th
Netherlands - March 12th
France - March 14th
Greece - March 14th

Draw of the Running order - March 21st |
The others are yet to confirm participation/means of selection etc.
Deadline for submitting entries for the UK's 'Making Your Mind Up' is December 31st - that's if anyone's interested!
Selected participants:
Ireland - Brian Kennedy - TBA
Monaco - Song has been already been picked but details are unknown
Switzerland - Six4One - TBA - Switzerland will be represented by a whore of a pop group, with 6 people coming from different countries - Liel (from Israel); Andreas Lundstedt (from Sweden) - member of Alcazar; Tinka Milinovic (from Bosnia and Herzegovina); Keith Camilleri (from Malta); Marco Matias (from Portugal) and Claudia D’Addio (from Switzerland). Now if that isn't a clever (and messed-up) way of doing well, then nothing is! Shame Tinka won't perform as a soloist for her own country!
Austria and now Hungary have withdrawn from next year's contest .

Albania's song has been selected! It's Luiz Ejlli - Zjarr e ftohte ('Fire and Cold'). As usual it's in Albanian but I assume it will be translated in English.
Surprise, surprise, it's ethnic-sounding!
It seems messed-up and similar to some other songs! Anjeza Shahini took part in the NF but I don't know where she placed herself in the end! Her song was pretty much terrible anyway.

EUGH! Poland's always crap... Danzel (of the 'Pump It Up' fame) is in the pre-selections. There are also Ich Troje (2003) - I did like their song back then so here's hoping!
Woo for the pics George! I read somewhere about the exact location - some sports complex I think!
EDIT: | Quote: | As confirmed by Greek broadcaster ERT, the 2006 edition of the song contest will take place in the Olympic Stadium’s Indoor Hall which is part of the Athens Olympic Sports Complex. The venue was chosen because of its functionality, its unique design and its history of hosting major sporting events.
The Olympic Stadium’s Indoor Arena was inaugurated in 1995. It consists of six levels and has a seating capacity of 18,500 people, including 2,000 fold-up seats and 300 seats for the media. It also has a 500 square metre Press Centre and a 100 square metre room for press conferences. But the main attraction is the impressive roof which adorns the stadium. |

The hype already started...oh well, I will inform you about Croatian pre-selection. Of course, the best one will end up second, like all of them in past 4 selections

^Croatia were robbed a direct qualification last year with that beautiful song. | chris975 wrote: | And we'll proably again send to ESC a big crap |
From this year's choices Mosqitoo sounds half-decent but maybe way too unconventional; Ich Troje's comeback is good though the mp3 I have is of an ultra-low quality. Danzel well let's skip that! I'll get back to you as regards the rest.

But the runner-up was so much better choice. I only pray they'll send some hot chick this year or even Luka Nižetic which was favorite among voters last year, but beacuse of judges ended up at #6

FRANZ FERDINAND SNUB EUROVISION
Scottish rockers FRANZ FERDINAND have turned down the chance to represent Greece at this year's (05) EUROVISION SONG CONTEST - but the offer will be open again next year (06).
The head of Greece's national TV network contacted the TAKE ME OUT sensations because lead singer ALEX KAPRONAS is half Greek, and requested they write a song to mark the competition's 50th anniversary.
A spokesperson says, "We contacted the group and asked if they would perform for us, but they are too busy. Then we asked if they could write a song.

 Probably we also...
About swedish pre-selections. As a singer Jessica Folcker is good, Velvet also has a great voice and BWO - I like them. I hope Sweden will show something better because last time I can't say I liked swedish performance.
Never gonna give it up,
I never wanna stop...

Lithuania is are one of the three countries I pity most in the whole show! They've been taking part for quite a while now - with decent songs at times - and they always fail!
And Sweden - bah, the jury just spoilt the fun in last year's Melodifestivalen
