Welcome, one and all, to the countdown for the greastest ever TV character, as voted for by YOU - the UKMix population.
You are to compile a list of TV characters, 10 characters as a minimum and 50 characters as a maximum. Please number your list, with #1 (your favourite) being awarded maximum points.
The characters on your list must be characters that have appeared in a recurring capacity (i.e. more than one episode). The characters can be from any TV show you like. Remember, they must be a fictional chacter, not a TV personality or anything.
So think about your favourite TV characters, past or present. Whether they're from Dynasty or Desperate Housewives, Scrubs or South Park, Dawson's Creek or Doctor Who, or Everybody Loves Raymond or EastEnders.
I'd also like to thank Bhaggers for creating the motif, thank you very much kind Sir.
So get voting and I hope this'll generate a lot of interest.
Send your votes in via PM and the deadline will be October 16th (2009).
...and I plan to carry out my commitment 'til the bitter end.
...eye on the target and wham, one shot, one gun shot and BAM!!...

Wow Bhaggers, that is awesome.
Great idea by the way Spartan.
Oh what's occurring. So many choices to think about, I haven't thought about any since 1973 and I feel like I've been treated like an octopus. Thank you.
Can we vote daleks and cybermen? And any other robots. i.e Tracy Eastenders.

I was wondering if a mod could sticky this thread? Maybe, 'unsticky' the UKMIX Greatest Ever TV Shows thread as it doesn't seem like it'll be completed in the near future??

As if anyone on here is gonna vote Brookisde anyway, it's a wasted vote, I'd ditch all 17. |
Thriller liked Brookie.
It's about characters you like, i'm not gonna ditch them just cause people are too young to remember them.
If it's not honest, what's the point in voting?

I did like Brookie! But I'm not sure I'd vote for anyone from it as it was more about the storylines for me than any particular character. I can probably guess who you are rating top of the Brookie ones though!

17 Brookie characters is a waste of your votes.
Well, fine waste 17 of your votes.

It's only a shortlist! I haven't finished it. They're not in any kind of order! Are you not gonna vote for eight Buffy characters.
Or ten Neighbours ones?
I also want to vote for all the This Life characters- well, about eight of them- should i not bother cause only me will vote them?
I have six from Teachers, five from Attachments.
As i said, i just went through my top 50 shows and those were the ones i liked a lot from each show. Given that Brookie was on for 21 years 17 characters is pretty reasonable. How many Corrie Street and Enders ones are gonna get voted?
Why should i let those two get all the votes? Even if they're not in the top 50/100/ whatever, they'll still be logged as my honest votes. They'll make the below 100 list.
And yes, Beth is the clear fave!

Done the list! I'm not sending it yet in case i forget some.
But in the end only 6 Brookside characters made the 50, as well as 5 from Blackadder, 4 from Red Dwarf, 4 from My So-Called Life, 4 from This Life, 3 from The Young Ones and 2 each from Cracker, Attachments, Auf Wiedersehen Pet, Father Ted and The Muppet Show.
Only eight of the characters are from non-UK shows (unless you count The Muppet Show, which was a BBC production back in the 70s).

The idea of voting 17 characters from a show only YOU will vote for means you're wasting votes. And back in the day I did watch Brookside but it's pointless voting for 17 characters from it as no one else is going to.
And you start asking me questions to make out I'd be hypocritical to what I just said. Not me.
NO I wouldn't votes loads of characters from Neighbours or Buffy. Even if I did they'd at least stand a chance of charting because there are other fans of those shows here.
And for what it's worth, I'm going to vary my votes as often it's the show that makes the character like when Captain Jack is fantastic in Doctor Who but annoying in Torchwood. And as this isn't 'Best TV Shows' I want to vote for good, interesting characters.
I think Thriller and I will have to have a chat about this, otherwise it just gets nasty.

I'm a lot older than most people here so i'm gonna vote for different shows than most of you. I'm not gonna change my votes to adapt them to UKMix taste. What's the point of that? I haven't put 17 characters in it- i put six.
Maybe it is pointless me voting if the likes of Roger, Cidermaster, Matt Dixon and other older posters don't join in. So what?
If it's not my honest votes, then there's no fun.
