Things move fast in the Girls Aloud camp. Only four years on and they're already releasing their greatest hits album "The Sound Of Girls Aloud". Its lead-off single, "Something Kinda Ooooh", takes another leap forward from their characteristic musical formula masterminded by Xenomania. This is a thumping dance record, with a killer chorus built around an addictive guitar riff, quite reminiscent of the girls' hit "Wake Me Up". Their vocal delivery is, once again, restless and full of attitude, and making the word 'tutu' sound cool can only be a good thing. Expect this to become a Top 3 hit.

Girls Aloud have once again exceeded the expectations of many with their 13th single release (can it really be that many now?) and one of five new tracks on "The Sound Of Girls Aloud: The Best Of". "Something Kinda Ooooh" harks back to the sounds of 80s bands like The Bangles and Bananarama so much, you might think it was actually them. Well, only just, but with a 21st century edge. I'm sure this is going to do well, though I don't know if a No. 1 is likely this week - but given that Radio 1 have A-listed this, they might just make it.
