Girls Aloud
|
Released: 18th December 2006.
It's only been a month or so since "Something Kinda Ooooh" was bothering the charts, but the Aloud of the Girls variety are back again to do their traditional and all important Christmas single. Like the others before it, this is a cover, but you'll be glad to hear that this re-interpretation of the Tiffany smash is very much in the same boat as "Something Kinda Ooooh" with its driving, rave-like bassline, feel-good beat and great vocals as always. One for the Christmas parties.
Each of Girls Aloud's previous Christmas singles have had two things in common - they've all been covers, and on first listen, appeared to be inferior to the original. Exactly the same applies here. The difference, however, is that whilst their others rapidly grew in likeability, "I Think We're Alone Now" is musically so far removed from Tiffany's version that it just doesn't sound 'right'. Admittedly, I initially felt the same about "Jump" three years ago, but somehow this track sounds like it was rushed, with little thought having gone into its production.
