Kaiser Chiefs

Released: 21st May 2007.
The second single from the Kaisers' 'difficult' second album, "Everything Is Average Nowadays" is a witty, yet meaningful, ode to, well, why everything is average nowadays. The Leeds five-piece have a knack for combining despair-ridden lyrics with catchy, summery Britpop melodies, and this little number is no exception. It may not be as immediate as February's chart-topper "Ruby", but it's a strong, well-performed track that ranks among their best releases. Keep an eye out for the stunning - yet hilarious - music video.
"Everything Is Average Nowadays", including the new Kaiser Chiefs album, which is far weaker than their previous material with the exception of "Ruby". They, like The Killers, have suffered from difficult second album syndrome, and on the basis of this single, they show no signs of abating from being dull as dish water.
