Wideboys feat. Shaznay Lewis
Released: 5th May 2008.
Cashing in on the sound of the moment, Wideboys fuse together garage and bassline with the unique voice of All Saints' Shaznay Lewis. I was expecting more from this as both acts have done far better, but "Daddy O" sounds very rushed, and Shaznay actually sounds quite irritating on this track. She should probably stick to her pretty R&B songs and Wideboys need to go back to the more soulful sound they found with "Bomb The Secret".
Having remixed "Black Coffee" for All Saints some years ago, Shaznay Lewis from the band returns the favour this week as she appears on this new track from Wideboys. "Daddy O" becomes a little grating after several plays, yet it very cleverly taps into the current garage revival that we've already seen from T2 and the like. This could therefore end up quite a massive hit in both the chart and the clubs.
