Released: 18th August 2008.
So with "Sweet About Me" finally established as the big hit single it deserved to be after two releases, we finally have a new, second single from Gabriella Cilmi. With co-writes from Saint Etienne, "Save The Lies" is a mischief-making, pseudo funk-soul strut that sees her sound, vocally, at her most demanding and, in all probability, her most fabulous. It wouldn't be too stupid therefore, to suggest another Top 10 placing.
Following the soulful sound of her debut "Sweet About Me", which is only just falling back out the charts, Gabriella finally returns with the follow up. "Save The Lies" is a great and instantly catchy pop song, which would be perfectly suited to Girls Aloud. Funny that, considering it's been produced by their favourites, Xenomania. The track is a lot more youthful than her debut and gives an overall better picture of her album. Maybe disappointing for the MOR Radio 2 listener, but good fun for the rest of us!
