Madcon

Released: 11th August 2008.
Norwegian Reggae act Madcon have already blown up back home and now look to cross over that success on British soil. The debut single "Beggin" mixes the house styles of Bob Sinclar and Supafly Inc with the more chilled out sounds of Damian Marley and our own Natty. As much as the production of the track is fresh, the vocals make the song sound a little too dated and it becomes, very quickly, rather dull.
A brilliantly done edit of the Frankie Valli & The Four Season's classic "Beggin'" by a man named Pilooski was released last year. Madcon have done nothing but suck out the goodness from Pilooski and Valli's teaming up by removing the original vocal, replacing it with a weaker one, changing the sound of the bassline to a more commercial one, and finally adding unfitting rap lines and unnecessary video game noise to make sure all class and brilliance are annihilated. Mission accomplished.
