Billie Piper
|
Released: 15th May 2000.
Billie's back, and now she's grown up into a Britney-esque R&B/pop stomper. One of her best songs to date, "Day & Night" is a new style for the girl we first saw before she was even 16. It's pure power pop at its best, and is guaranteed to win over new fans, and keep old ones interested. Obvious comparisons to Britney Spears may bring it down, but if you listen closely, it's in a league of its own.
Billie, sorry, the new grown up Billie Piper, returns with a look and sound that are oddly, hmmm, Spears-ish. And only a couple of weeks after Britney's new single too. You don't think she's running scared of her American clone do you? Anyway, the song. Well, it's upbeat, uptempo, and generally everything we've come to expect from identikit pop these days. It certainly has more of an edge than her earlier work, but there's no way it's worth a radical re-invention.
