Reviews
Released: 1st June 2009. A Katy Perry demo is re-recorded by the first American Idol, what's the result? a song shouting and screaming brilliant hit. Entitled "I Do Not Hook Up", Kelly's second single from her much-anticipated, but too-commercial fourth album, "All I Ever Wanted". This song is very exciting, you might not hear the words correctly in first listen, but that's what just makes me like it. It's absolutely amazing and I hope at least 25000 people in the same week could agree because in my opinion, a top 10 placing is where it belongs.
Even in spite of a recent chart topper with "My Life Would Suck Without You", it seems there are only two ways that Kelly Clarkson can ever go now. And that's either down the dramatic soaring power ballad route a la November 2005's "Because Of You", or down the Dr. Luke powered sub-aggressive rock chick route a la March 2006's "Walk Away". Here on "I Do Not Hook Up", it's down the latter route. Altogether, it's still nowhere near as brilliant as "Miss Independent" or "Breakaway" were six years ago. The phrase one trick (or two trick in her case) pony springs to mind.
