Dolly Rockers - Gold DiggerOnetime X Factor contestants, Dolly Rockers have spent the last year garnering a small but devoted following with their quirky "wonky pop". With some clever use of old eighties tunes "Stool Pigeon" and "Wordy Rappinghood" (and even a bit of Peter Gabriel), brash, bratty half-spoken/ half-sung vocals and an irresistable DIY style that recalls nineties duo Shampoo or early Bananarama, this tune just begs to be heard and seen. Scathing lyrics on the vacuousness of money-obsessed glamour girls like Jordan and the best attitude since the Spice Girls. They may irritate, they may enthrall- they did both to me, but before too long, i was hooked! As catchy as swine flu and almost as deadly!

Just as the Spice Girls prompted a whole heap of dreadful cast offs - we're talking N-Tyce, Thunderbugs etc etc - so too, does Girls Aloud and the Saturdays' recent success suddenly allow a whole heap of bandwagon jumpers to have a go too. Dolly Rockers really have tried every desperate trick in the book - declaring a love of indie bands, slagging off their contemporaries, and trying to be alternative by posting videos of themselves inebriated up on YouTube. All probably, it would seem, to mask the fact that the music is so poorly contrived even the most casual pop lover would turn their nose up at this.
