Will Young & Gareth Gates - The Long And Winding Road / Suspicious Minds...and the pop idol machine just keeps on rolling. It was inevitable that Will and Gareth would eventually duet, and it was predictable they'd do so on a cover. Obviously the original was by the Beatles, and whilst it was their last No. 1 in the USA, it never topped the UK chart. That original was a classic. Whilst both Will and Gareth can sing well, they don't really bring anything to the song. The end result is bland, and the same can be said for Gareth's attempt to be Elvis on his take on "Suspicious Minds". The third track, a Will Young solo cover, has had no airplay, which shows who's the bigger Pop Idol now.

It had to happen eventually, a duet between the two Pop Idol finalists, but this single proves even further that the public made the right choice about the winner of the show. Will Young's unique voice shines through the main song and his cover of "I Get The Sweetest Feeling", but it's Gareth's whiny vocals that make the Beatles cover particularly bad. As for Gareth's version of Elvis' "Suspicious Minds", the less said about that the better. This single isn't getting the high profile attention that would be expected of the pair, but it is an obvious No. 1.
