Rikki & Daz feat. Glen Campbell
|
Released: 18th November 2002.
It's a tradition around this time of year for the release of dodgy, stupid, dance re-works of old country hits like last year's "Country Roads". This year, Rikki & Daz sample Glen Campbell's hit "Rhinestone Cowboy" and give it the run-around. Being mates with Chris Moyles and Comedy Dave, it's been championed by them, and a lot of people will love it. Not sure where it will land though.
Ever wondered what happened to that awful rap-cover group Bus Stop? Me neither. Now, frontman Daz has teamed up with one of the Cuban Boys (remember "Hampster Dance" a couple of years ago?) to cover this country "classic". In true Bus Stop style, they've even managed to drag in the singer of the original, Glen Campbell, but that doesn't improve an already awful song. Quite why anyone thought this abomination would be a good idea I'll never know, though it'll probably be popular with those who enjoy line-dancing to novelty songs like this.
