Craig David feat. Sting
|
Released: 28th April 2003.
Craig David's new single uses the same haunting Sting sample that the Sugababes used for their recent single "Shape". Even though he doesn't use the sample as effectively as the Sugababes, it's still his best single in a while. "Rise & Fall" is memorable, and Craig's voice is much more natural and less annoying here, complementing the refined vocals of Sting perfectly.
Craig David was once claimed to be the future of British R&B. That was until he released his less than spectacular second album. This is the third single from that album, and though he may have enlisted the help of Sting for this track, it's still nowhere near as good as his earlier material. Making use of a sample which the Sugababes used so much better, this is little more than a bland song. On his new album, Craig claims to be slicker than your average - judging by this single, he's just average!
