After just three singles, Girls Aloud have managed to shake off the "Popstars: The Rivals" tag. Their third single, "Life Got Cold", was hailed as the standout track from their album, and has been rush released. That was a wise decision, as it looks certain to be a massive No. 1! Despite similarities with Oasis' "Wonderwall", "Life Got Cold" has a several unique qualities which make it one of the most unusual and best pop songs of the year so far. Doesn't look like these girls will be disappearing anytime soon!

The true survivors of Popstars: The Rivals (bar the Cheeky Girls obviously!) return with an out-of-season ballad, delivered with their usual attitude and personality. However, "Life Got Cold" isn't as good a showcase of their vocal talents as their last two singles were, and this coupled with the weak, forgettable melody of the chorus gives the song a sluggish empty feel. Still, miles better than former rivals One True Voice!
