Imagine Pop Idol winner Will Young breaking the States. It would never happen! But American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson looks set to equal her Stateside success on this side of the Atlantic. Kelly's first UK single "Miss independent" showcases her voice brilliantly. The song was co-written by Christina Aguilera, and you can hear her influences in the rocky chorus. It sounds like nothing else, and is one of the best songs around at the moment, so it looks like Kelly will have a little more than 15 minutes of fame!

The debut from the winner of the first series of American Idol successfully proves with "Miss Independent" that she had the voice to win the show. More impressively, she exhibits amazing control over her voice and the song. Christina Aguilera co-wrote this particular track, but lyrically it's very weak and almost cringe-worthy in places. The production isn't the most original, but it does the job quite well.
