Britney Spears feat. Madonna
|
Released: 10th November 2003.
Recently, Britney's been overshadowed by her former Mickey Mouse clubmate Christina Aguilera. For her comeback, she's enlisted the help of the queen of controversy, Madonna. Can the two superstars create a hit? "Me Against The Music" isn't an instantly likeable song. At first, it seems to have no tune and even sounds like a bit of a mess, but if you stick with it, it will eventually grow on you. The song is harmless enough, and not too different to Britney's earlier work, but Christina has upped the stakes now - Britney won't be able to keep up with her if she keeps making average songs like this.

Britney's back with a 'make or break' record, and judging by this lame, over-produced effort, it's not going to be easy for her. Madonna lends a helping hand, but hardly even makes a worthy feature on the song. Its low, dirty beats are weak, and this new sound of hers is nowhere near as classy as she obviously thinks it is. It's neither clever nor cool and should never have been done.
