For their new single "Ladies Night", Atomic Kitten have teamed up with Kool & The Gang, who originally did the song. It must be said that the Kittens do a great job covering the disco classic, but this single is nowhere near as good as their usual releases. Still, they manage to sound fresh updating this catchy party tune, very reminiscent of the girls' earlier stuff. It's good to see them releasing something different to their usual mid-tempo songs, but there are other far better tracks on their excellent third album. In the busiest week of the year, expect this to only make the lower half of the Top 10.

This year at Christmas there's an early treat in store - another lifeless cover by the blandest girl band of the moment, Atomic Kitten. Some songs should never be touched and some bands should never touch them, and this is one of them. In an attempt to convince the nation that they are in fact 'hip', the Kittens bring an old anthem back from the dead, but it doesn't work. Little invention and even less colour, don't waste space on your Christmas list. There are plenty of records far better than this around.
