Maroon 5 - Harder To BreatheEvery so often, a guitar-based track comes along and manages to break down the genre barriers, crossing over into the mainstream and becoming immensely popular. Evanescence's "Bring Me To Life" was one such song last year, and this debut single from Maroon 5 could be another. Taking the best bits from the likes of Train and Matchbox 20 while adding a funkier edge to the sound, everything about this track is brilliant. They've already had major success in the US, and it seems likely they can repeat that here.

American rockers Maroon 5 may at first seem like a Matchbox 20 rip off, but they're not half bad, as their debut single "Harder To Breathe" shows. The versatile Rob Thomas-esque vocals and sophisticated guitar work add a certain distinctiveness to such a catchy and meaningful record that deserves to succeed.
