It's about time Mark Owen was taken seriously for writing one of the best pop songs of 2004. "Makin' Out" is one of, if not THE best singles he's written. The verses certainly hit the right places, and build up to a worthy chorus. Stop comparing him with everyone else and give this catchy, summery pop anthem a listen - you'll be singing it all summer. One of the UK's best homegrown songwriters deserves a big hit.
The former Take That member releases another single to try and compete with Robbie. The good news is that the song is wonderful. It's a guitar-pop track, similar to his previous solo efforts "Four Minute Warning" and "Alone Without You", and his distinctive voice really makes it something special. Although "Makin' Out" won't be a No. 1, it has an opportunity to climb into the Top 10 at least.
