Shaznay Lewis - Never Felt Like This BeforeWhen All Saints split up three years ago, many were expecting Shaznay Lewis to become a solo star in her own right. She's taken her time to release her debut album "Open" (while her ex-bandmates have flopped with their solo efforts), and it looks promising judging by this first single. It's not what we were expecting her to come out with, but it's an excellent track nevertheless - an extremely emotional and beautiful song with an uplifting chorus and acoustic arrangements. Shaznay's songwriting skills remain as good as ever, and her vocal delivery is impressive. A pleasant debut from one of the UK's brightest talents.

Shaznay Lewis has maintained her moniker as the 'talent' in All Saints despite slatings in the press, tell-all books from the Appletons, and fairly decent, if forgettable, releases from each former member. Whilst the Appletons changed their sound when they formed a duo, Shaznay's voice and songwriting style is instantly recognisable. "Never Felt Like This Before" is a classy, R&B-lite ballad with an airy feel. It recalls some of All Saints' best moments, especially "Never Ever" and "Pure Shores". Unfortunately for Shaznay, it's not half as interesting, emotive or memorable as either of those tunes.
