Released: 1st November 2004.
2004 has been incredibly kind to Usher's "Confessions" project, and this double A-Side doesn't appear to be any less appealing to his massive audience than previous efforts this year. The first track, "Confessions Part II", is a mediocre, but nonetheless catchy, mid-tempo R&B track. The star track here, of course, is the Alicia Keys duet "My Boo". Hyped for weeks on end, the sexy duo's vocals are matched perfectly, and it's one of the best boy/girl pairings in modern R&B.
The guy whose ego is bigger than his success this year is back with two singles for the price of one. So that's something Usher fans should enjoy, right? No. Both songs are light years away from classics like "Burn" and "U Remind Me". "Confessions" just goes nowhere, and "My Boo" is instantly forgettable. He might have engaged R&B's finest diva Alicia Keys in the song, but that doesn't help, as it's terribly dire. Another No. 1? Not in a million years - not just because it's a busy week, but because both songs are weak.
