Dubstar
|
Released: 28th August 2000.
Dubstar return at last, after what seems like forever, and after a rocky start to the album they quickly hit classic form. This album is pure unapologetic pop music. The sound is predominantly electronic, but somehow it sounds bubbly and organic, which is very different to the usual sterile and soul-less feeling for electronic music.
A lot of the credit for this has to be given to Sarah Blackwood, whose vocals illuminate the album, swinging effortlessly from joyful to melancholic. Without Sarah's voice the album would be accomplished but ultimately empty, but she makes these songs soar. A wonderful return from Dubstar, hopefully they'll now be welcomed back to the bosom of the record-buying public.
